February 13, 1858, Page 1 February 13, 1858 Public Sale. By the undersigned, Public Auctioneer, in and for the Parish of St. Landry. THE public are hereby informed that there will be sold, at public sale, to the last and highest bidder, by the undersigned auctioneer, before the Court House door, in the Town of Opelousas, on Saturday 20th February next, 1858, the following slaves; belonging to the community heretofore existing between Thomas B. Knox, deceased, and his surviving widow, Anne Gurnett, to wit: A NEGRO-MAN, named Abraham, aged about 35 years, A NEGRO-MAN, named Ned, aged about 40 years, A NEGRO-WOMAN, named Matilda, aged about 24 years, with her child, Charity, aged about 15 months. Terms and Conditions: - One, two and three years credit from the day of sale, Purchasers furnishing notes with security in solido to the satisfaction of whom the right, and moreover, the slaves remaining specially mortgaged until full and entire payment of capital and the interests that may accrue thereon at the rate of eight per cent per annum from the time they respectively become due.
