He served in the United States Army as a non-commission officer, with the Rank of Sgt. 1st Class. Mr. Alsandor served in the military for 21 years, and later taught in the R.O.T.C. Program at Capitol High in Baton Rouge also in the high school system in Memphis, Tenn. He was a graduate of Opelousas High School. Mr. Chachere was the retired owner of Lafayette Drug Company and Modern Record Service. He was a charter member and served on the Board of Directors of the Toiletry Merchandiser Association and most recently served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Lafayette. Mr. Chachere was a member of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, also serving on the Board of Directors, and was a member of the Lafayette Lions Club. A former member of the Greater Southwest Mardi Gras Association and the Krewe of Gabriel, Mr. Chachere received the honor of being crowned King Gabriel XXVII. He was a member of the Oakbourne Country Club and the City Club of Lafayette. Mr. Chachere was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1286. Mrs. Domingue and her late husband were well-known retired general merchandise merchants in Duson from 1940 to 1965. She was the co-founder, charter member and the first Grand Regent of Court St. Theresa #1603 and an active Catholic Daughters of America member for 43 years, as well as co-founder and chairperson of Jr. Catholic Daughters of America for 20 years. Mrs. Domingue was a member of St. Theresa Catholic community in Duson where she was a member of the St. Theresa Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of the Lay Third Order Carmelite, St. Anne Society, Auxiliary of Legion of Mary and RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) for 25 years. As a result of her many years of unselfish service, Mrs. Domingue was awarded the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifica Papal Award, the Lafayette Diocese Bishop's Medal, the St. Anne's National Medal and Outstanding RSVP Awards. Survivors include: a daughter, Laura Belle Domingue Deville of Baton Rouge; a son, Lucas Domingue Jr. of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
