Chauvin -- PICTURE, 28 Nov 98 Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Edward Chauvin, 70, will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial at Bellevue Memorial Mausoleum here. Mr. Chauvin, a native of Opelousas, died Friday, November 27, 1998, at 3 p.m. at Opelousas General Hospital. The Rev. Nicky Trahan will conduct the services. Visitation will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. until the time of the services. Mr. Chauvin graduated from Opelousas High School in 1944. He attended Louisiana State University for a year and served in the Navy for two years during World War II. After his naval career, he went into business with his father, E. E. Chauvin, who was a partner of Mrs. Ben Riseman's in the family clothing store, Riseman and Chauvin's. In 1964, Jerry Chauvin purchased Mrs. Riseman's interest in the store and changed the name to Chauvin's Men and Boys' Wear. He closed the store in 1981, after which he worked for Planter's Bank as senior vice president of public relations. Survivors include: a wife, Mrs. Jerry Philippe Chauvin; three sons, Jay Chauvin of Baton Rouge, Edward Chauvin of Abbeville, and George Chauvin of Opelousas; one daughter, Mrs. Stanford "Christine" Owen of Slidell; one sister, Mrs. Ray "June" Whatley of Alexandria; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Ida Domengeaux, the former Ida Hebert, died at 4:30 a.m., Friday, November 27, 1998 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Mrs. Domengeaux was a native of Vatican and a resident of Sunset for most of her life. She had been an employed City Clerk for Sunset City Hall for 23 years. She was a member and past president of the Louisiana Municipal Clerk Association and on the board of directors of the Louisiana Municipal Association. She was also a former secretary of the St. Landry Municipal Association. Mrs. Domengeaux was a parishioner of St. John Berchman. Survivors include: her loving husband of 52 years, Francis Domengeaux of sunset; a son, Carroll Domengeaux and his wife Renee of Sunset; a daughter, Peggy Frey and her husband Dana of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Carroll Domengeaux II of Franklin and Kerry Frey of Lafayette; her father, Clarsin Hebert of Vatican; a brother Dallas Hebert and his wife Marie of Scott; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie H. John Gaudet, 27 Nov 98 Funeral services for John Earl Gaudet, 70, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Old Catholic Church Cemetery in Port Barre. Mr. Gaudet, a resident of Port Barre, died on November 26, 1998, at 2:35 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Alexandria. Mr. Gaudet was a retired Master Sergeant, having served over 20 years with the U.S. Army Security Agency, a branch of the U.S. Army. He began his career in 1947 and retired in 1967, After his retirement he farmed in Port Barre for 16 years. During his army service he traveled to 13 foreign countries and 34 states. Sgt. Gaudet was a Perpetual member of the Humble Cottage Masonic Lodge #19 in Opelousas since 1956. He was also a life member of the Manila Scottish Rite Bodies of Luzon in the Philippines since 1963 and a member of the AFIFI Shrine Temple of Tacoma, Washington, since 1962. Gaudet was a life member of the American Legion at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippine Islands, a member of the Louisiana State Troopers Association, the Deputy Sheriffs Association, the National Rifle Association, the National Association of the Uniformed Services, the Louisiana State Fraternal Order of Police, and the Port Barre Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include: a wife, Mrs. Evelyn Leblanc Gaudet of Port Barre; one son, Leon Gaudet and wife Lisa Joubert of Port Barre; two daughters, Mrs. Rachel Marie Lininger and husband Shawn of Port Barre and Mrs. Monica Ann Gaudet Wolfe and husband Dr. Rick Wolfe of Haughton; one brother, James Gaudet of Vidor, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Darbonne of Lawtell and Minnie Lee Dejean of Church Point; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Gennuso, formerly of Opelousas, died in Houston, Texas, Saturday, November 28, 1998 at 4:15 a.m. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. Mrs. Gennuso was born in Washington on April 10, 1913. She lived in Opelousas and worked as a waitress at J. W. Low's for 33 years. She moved to Houston in 1983 where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Marie Shannon Miller and Robert James Miller of Houston, Texas; two brothers, George Gennuso of Opelousas and Frank Gennuso of Port Arthur, Texas; four sisters, Francis Burgo of Chicago, Illinois, Ann Brogdon and Mary Lea, both of Port Arthur, Texas, and Angie Malandruccolo of Nassau Bay, Texas. Mr. Gibson was a graduate of Northwestern State University with B.S. in nursing with honors. Following graduation he went on to Texas Wesleyan University where he received his master's degree in health sciences and a certificate in anesthesiology.He was a member of AANA, the Lions Club and Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a devoted coach for many years with the Lion's club and Park League and won two baseball championships coaching his two oldest sons. Mr. Kidder, a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, November 29, 1998, in Doctors' Hospital in Opelousas. Mr. Kidder had been employed with the St. Landry Parish Security in Lawtell and had worked at St. Luke's Hospital in Arnaudville for more than 15 years. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Church in Arnaudville. Survivors include: his wife, the former Barbara Taylor Kidder of Arnaudville; one son, Ricky Kidder and his wife, Sherri, of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Becky Quebedeaux and her husband, Tony, of Arnaudville; two grandchildren, Rick Kidder and Nikki Quebedaux; his mother, the former Leonie Marks Kidder of Arnaudville; one brother, Gary Kidder and his wife, Annette, of Arnaudville; a sister, Mrs. Daniel "Eula" Dufour of Covington; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeanette Kidder of Arnaudville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
