Mrs. Ambres was employed as a Child Net Specialist by the St. Landry Parish School Board at the Pupil Appraisal in Opelousas. She celebrated her 51st birthday this month of May 1999. Carol worked 29 years in the St. Landry Parish School System. Many special duties were performed at her church, such as a Sunday School Class Teacher, Jr. Ushers Counselor, Council for Matrons, Mission Group Leader, Choir Singer, also several unique educational boards in our parish and state. Sister Ambres was also the financial secretary of the Young People's Department of the 7th District Baptist Association. He was an entrepreneur, accountant, bookkeeper and tax consultant for over 40 years in Opelousas. He owned and operated Jake's Tax Services. Mr. FaKouri was a life member of the Sertoma Club, a member of the Woodmen of the World and the National Rifle Association. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. Bud, also known as coach, teacher, friend, leader, was born December 7, 1919, in Opelousas. He went to school there and began his leadership role while attending Opelousas High School. During this time he was selected as the outstanding football player of Louisiana. He entered SLI majoring in Health and Physical Education and Science. He joined the Air Force during World War II and was an instructor and tester of pilots. A coaching and teaching position at Opelousas High School was his next career. He then became principal of Park Vista Elementary and later principal of Hamilton Lab School on the USL Campus. After earning his Ph.D. He became a member of the USL Education Department, then Chair of teacher education, and eventually Dean of the College of Education at USL. He was actively involved in community work through the church, Rotary Club, and other organizations. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, Theta XI, Red Red Rose, National Educational Association, American Heart Association, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, Kappa Delta Pi, S Club, Ascension Club for Men and Ascension Day School Board. He was president of the following organizations: Rotary Club, Friends of USL Library, St. Landry Parish Principals Association, Louisiana Association of Health and Physical Education, Louisiana High School Coaches Association, USL Chapter of Louisiana Teachers Association, Louisiana Association of Supervising Teachers and the Louisiana Association of Teacher Educators. Mr. Ducharme received many awards such as Kappa Delta Pi as Outstanding Educator in the Nation, Silver Torch Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Louisiana American Heart Association, Outstanding Alumni Award for Health and Physical Education, Outstanding Alumni Award for the College of Education and Outstanding Rotarian of Lafayette. William Rimes OAK HARBOR, Wash. - Funeral services for the Rev. William J. Rimes, S.J. William John Rimes was born in Roosevelt on March 31, 1918, to William J. and Annie G. (Breard) Rimes. His early years were spent in Lake Providence. He moved to Monroe in 1931 and finished the elementary and secondary education. Rev. Rimes entered the Jesuit Novitiate at St. Charles College, Grand Coteau in 1936. He went to Spring Hill College, Mobile, Ala., to teach for three years. Having completed four years of Theology at St. Mary's College, St. Mary's, Kansas, he was ordained a priest of the Society of Jesus on June 14, 1949, at St. Mary's College. He did his final year of Jesuit Training, call Tertianship, in Pass Christian, Miss. He returned to Spring Hill college, where he taught in the Chemistry Department. In 1953 he began graduate studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and in 1956 received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. He served as Chemistry Professor at Spring Hill College from 1956 to 1983, teaching, living and counseling in the student dormitory. Rev. Rimes served as President of Spring Hill College for 6 1/2 years in the 1960's. In 1983, Rev. Rimes retired from teaching and began parish ministry as a priest in Siloam Springs, Ark., at St. Mary's Parish. In 1991 he moved to St. Charles Borromeo Church in Grand Coteau and served as pastor for three years. In 1994 Rev. Rimes retired as a Parish Priest and moved to Oak Harbor, Wash., to be with his sister. He quickly became a very active part of St. Augustine's Parish, Oak Harbor, and St. Mary's Parish, Coupeville. He became an active participant and board member of the Habitat for Humanity of Island County. Rev. William Rimes is survived by a brother, Rev. Robert Rimes, S.J., a member of the Jesuit Community of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.; and a sister, Mrs. Heloise R. Chambers of Oak Harbor. Also surviving are two nephews, Dr. Robert Chambers and his wife DeAnne of Columbus, Ohio, and William Chambers and his wife Mary Pat of Bellingham, Wash.; two nieces, Kathryn A.
