She was born in Grand Prairie, married and moved to Plaisance. She and her husband opened a popular cafe, called School Cafe, next to Louisiana Technical College, T.H. Harris Campus, and the old location of Opelousas High School. Later, they became pecan buyers until their retirement in the early 1970s. Mrs. Dupre was a resident of Maison de Ville Nursing Home for the last four years. She was a member of the St. Landry Catholic Church parish. Survivors include: three sons, John Dupre and wife Norma Lee of Port Barre; Coty Dupre and wife Wilda of Opelousas; and Bobby Dupre of Opelousas; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Randall Moreau conducted the services. Mr. Landreneau, a resident of Ville Platte, died on Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at 2:40 p.m. at Ville Platte Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Landreneau was the manager of Ardoin Funeral Home for Ville Platte and Mamou. After 50 years of comforting families in their time of need, he has gone to his final resting place to join his beloved wife, Beulah L. Landreneau, whom he truly adored. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher for the church. He was also a member of the Southwest Funeral Directors Association. Mrs. Lavergne was a native of Baton Rouge and 1953 honor graduate in education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was an elected member of Delta Kappa Pi National Educational Honor Society and an editor of children's books. In 1954, she began at her home, the original American School in Saigon, Vietnam. She took particular pride in teaching young children to read. Mrs. Lavergne also accompanied her husband, with their family, when he served in the U.S. Foreign Service in Vietnam, the Phillipines, Laos, Tonisia, Somalia and Washington, D.C. Survivors include: a son, Daly C. Lavergne Jr. and Suzanne, of Baton Rouge; three daughters, Anna L. Krause and Jack, of Opelousas, Gay L. Noack and David, of St. Cloud, Minn. and Hillary C. She also contributed her talents on the 50th Anniversary NATO conference in Washington, D.C. in 1999 with the U.S. State Department under the Secretary of State. Ms. Leslie attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where she was a member of the speech and debate team.
