Mr. Davis, a resident of Lafayette since 1978 and a native of Dallas, Texas, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 1999, in Columbia Medical Center of Southwest La. in Lafayette. He was a retired salesman for Dixie Office Supplies in Lafayette. Mr. Davis was a former member of the Jaycees. He was listed as an outstanding member in 1966. Mr. Davis was also a track announcer at USL and for Opelousas High Tiger Relays. He also served in the United States Army. Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Garrison Davis of Lafayette; a son, Rob Davis of Lafayette; two daughters, Tammy Guillot of Church Point and Debbie Rogers of Eufuala, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Jonathan and Angel Guillot, all of Church Point, Heather and Kristine Davis, both of Lafayette, Stephanie, Christy and Stephen Rogers, all of Eufuala, Okla.; and a great-grandchild, Aubrey Rogers. She was a graduate of Church Point High School and S.L.I. (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). Mrs. Daigle was a retired school teacher with the Acadia Parish School Board. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Immaculate Conception #1531. Survivors include: numerous nieces and nephews; and nephew great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Frank Resweber of Lafayette; three sisters-in-law, Madeline G. Ms. Lemerande, a native of Pomona, Calif., on June 28, 1965, and a resident of Scott, died Sunday, January 2, 2000, in Lafayette General Medical Center following a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis. She graduated from Melville High School in 1983. Michele's strength and courage were admired by everyone. She will be sadly missed by her mother, Cathy Leroux of Scott; her father and stepmother, Stan and Joann Kennedy of Melville; a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Arlen Pitre of Melville; two stepsisters, Celeste and Heidi Bertrand of Melville; a niece, Morgan Pitre and a nephew, Garrett Pitre, both of Melville; her maternal grandparents, Vance and Ida Huston Nagle of Cayucos, Calif.; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was born September 1, 1908, in Washington. Mrs. Moore received her Registered Nurse Certificate from Charity Hospital in New Orleans and practiced nursing prior to her marriage. She married Ralph E. Moore Sr. in May of 1941 and became a homemaker and owner/manager of Colonial Apartments in Opelousas. Survivors include: a son, Ralph E. Moore Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of San Antonio, Texas, and their two children, Amanda and Stephen; a daughter, Colleen Moore Koetting and her husband Norbert of Lafayette, and their three children, Donald and Bill Koetting and Connie Marcantel and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gladies Salathe of New Orleans; a brother, Earl Guedry of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. James Comeau Sr. OAKDALE - Memorial services for Mr. James Leslie Comeau Sr., 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church here. Mr. Comeau died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 1999, in Oakdale Community Hospital in Oakdale. He was a native of Opelousas and a resident of Oakdale since 1949. He was the son of the late Jacques Leonard Comeau, a native of Opelousas, and the former Edith Leslie Pierson, a native of Natchitoches. Mr. Comeau graduated from Opelousas High School and Louisiana State University and attended graduate school at George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Comeau was a retired teacher, having taught at Lawtell, Reserve and Oakdale. He was a past president of the Louisiana Chapter of the National Council for the Social Studies and of the Allen Parish Retired Teachers Association. Mr. Comeau was also a member of the Louisiana Historical Association and the Episcopal Church. He served in the Army during World War II in Europe and North Africa. Mr. Comeau was a sergeant in the 246th Quartermaster Depot Company. Survivors include: his wife, the former Evelyn Granier, and a son, James L. Comeau II, both of Oakdale. He was a retired Community Coffee salesman with 34 years of service. He was born Andrew Malcolm Hargroder Sr. January 3, 1937, to the parents of Elby J. and Orelia Dupre Hargroder in rural Opelousas. Malcolm was known in the areas as the Community Coffee Man. He was an avid sportsman and fan. Mr. Hargroder was the coach for the Opelousas Warriors when they won the Victory Regional District Play Off in 1987. He was involved in the Parks and Recreational activities in St. Landry Parish. Mr. Hargroder was not only involved in the American Legion Baseball but also the T-Ball and the Sertoma Football, as well as his children in school activities. He was a member of Good Sam's Camping Club. Mr. Ledoux, a native of Prairie Ronde and resident of Opelousas, died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2000, in Opelousas General Hospital. He was a retired Ford Tractor Dealer who owned the Bryan Ledoux Ford Tractor Dealership for 35 years in the City of Opelousas. Mr. Ledoux also owned the Bryan Ledoux Auction Company in Opelousas from 1986 to the present time. Mr. Ledoux was a World War II Army Veteran having served in the European Campaign and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He received many campaign medals while he served and one was the Bronze Star. Mr. Ledoux came out of the war as a highly decorated vet. While in Europe, he served in the 70th Infantry. In Prairie Ronde his active roles were many at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Many of his friends still call him the little Altar Boy. He was also very active in the Cursillo and made the second one there in Prairie Ronde. Mr. Ledoux was a church Lector for most of his life and was a Eucharistic Minister for as long. He also lead the Church Choir and was on the Building Committee at Sacred Heart. Mr. Ledoux was awarded the PaPal Medal by the Pope recognizing his dedication to the Catholic Church. Mr. Ledoux was a very generous man to all his family, friends and to just anyone who needed a favor or a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Opelousas Council, the V.F.W. and the American Legion of Opelousas. Mr. Ledoux was the organizer of the Prairie Ronde Water System and held the position of President at one time. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Rita Meche Ledoux of Opelousas; a son, Bryan J. After the birth of her fourth child, she retired from her husband's business, Daigle Welding Supply, to raise her children. After her husband's death in 1967, she owned and operated Daigle Welding Supply for several years. In later years, she was well-known for civic and volunteer efforts in the Opelousas area. She was an active member of the Garden Club, the Louisiana Crafts Guild and the Acadiana Arts Council. A well-known quilter throughout the southern and southwestern states, she touched the lives of many people through her artistic endeavors and talent. Vanchiere, M.D., 60, of Lake Charles will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Margaret Catholic Church here with burial in Consolata Cemetery. Officiating will be the Revs. Henry Mancuso and Aubrey Guilbeau. Dr. Vanchiere died 12:56 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2000, at a Lake Charles hospital. Dr. Vanchiere, a native of Opelousas, lived in Lake Charles for the past 29 years where he was in private practice at the Children's Clinic of Southwest Louisiana. Dr. Vanchiere attended Tulane University and graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1964. He served his rotating internship at Martin Army Hospital at Fort Benning, Ga., and his pediatric residency at Brooke Army Hsopital in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Dr. Vanchiere also served as a Battalion Surgeon at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, and served as chief of pediatric service at Fort Polk Army Hospital. He was a member of the Calcasieu Parish Medical Society, serving as a member of the executive committee, treasurer, secretary, vice-president and president. He was also a member of the American Medical Association and the Southern Medical Association. Dr. Vanchiere was certified by the American Board of Pediatrics as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was a member and immediate past-president of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Vanchiere was also a member of the Louisiana Medical Society where he served as Seventh District Councilor and on the Board of Governors. Dr. Vanchiere was organizer and president of the Pediatric Society of Southwest Louisiana and the Louisiana State University Pediatric Alumni Association. He was chairman of the Pediatric Advisory Committee to the Louisiana State Medicaid Program and served on the Physician Executive Committee of Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Dr. Vanchiere served on the staffs and held numerous committee assignments at all four local hospitals. Additionally he helped to organize and staff the Well Baby Clinics at the Calcasieu Parish Health Unit, and the Head Start Program with EPSDT screening examinations. Dr. Vanchiere served on the Chamber of Commerce, image sub-committee. He had served as president of the St. Margaret School Board and as past president of the School Board for the Diocese of Lake Charles. He was past president of the St. Margaret Church Council. He was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Dr. Vanchiere was active in the Children's Miracle Network and in 1995 received the "Miracle Makers" award for outstanding contributions to the program.
