Rena Ledoux


Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence Ledoux, the former Rena Darbonne, 85, will
be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in United Pentecostal Church in Opelousas with
burial in Bellevue Memorial Park.


The Rev. Eldon Reeves and Alan Spence will conduct the services.


Mrs. Ledoux, a resident of Opelousas, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, January 31,
2000, in Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas. She was a housewife.


Survivors include: three sons, Lee S. Ledoux, Glenn D. Ledoux and Ronald W.
Ledoux, all of Lawtell; a daughter, Rita Ledoux Bergeron of Lake Charles; a
brother, Hubert Darbonne of Melville; seven sisters, Velma Escott of
Opelousas, Virgin Phillip of Bossier City, Ursie Guillot and Ella Mae
Phillips, both of Melville, Verdney Ledoux, Amarone Soileau and Lee Anna
Firmin, all of Palmetto; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.


Mrs. Ledoux was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Labbie" Ledoux;
two brothers, Rallie Darbonne and Fred Darbonne; and three sisters, Ivy
Pitre, Glade Lavergne and Lora Mae Davison.


Visiting hours will be observed from 3 p.m. today until time of services on
Tuesday.

CHURCH POINT - Funeral services for Ms. Clementine Savoy, 84, were held at 1
p.m. today in Duhon Funeral Home Chapel here with burial in Our Lady of the
Sacred Catholic Church Cemetery.


The Rev. Msgr. Fred Swenson conducted the services.


Ms. Savoy, a resident of Church Point, died Monday, January 31, 2000, in
Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.


Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Kent (Dot) Comeaux of Church Point; two
sisters, Ledia Granger of Lafayette and Ruby Arabie of Church Point; a
brother, Avie Savoy of Church Point; eight grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.


Ms. Savoy was preceded in death by her parents, Clerfe' and Ida Savoy; and a
son, Lionel P. Douga.


Visiting hours were observed from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. today
until time of services. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.

Ola Bertrand


PORT BARRE - Funeral services for Mrs. Ola C. Bertrand, 88, were held at 2:30 p.m. today in
Sacred Heart Catholic Church here with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.


The Rev. Michael Hebert conducted the services.


Mrs. Bertrand, a resident of Port Barre, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2000, in
Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas. She worked at J.W. Low's Department Store for 22 years.


Survivors include: two daughters, Dorothy Aymond of Port Barre and Betty Artigue of
Prairieville; two brothers, Joe A. Courville of New Iberia and Nolan Courville of Lafayette; a
sister, Virley Marks of LaPlace; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-
great-grandchildren.


Mrs. Bertrand was preceded in death by her parents, Abra and Eta Wilks Courville; her first
husband, Robert Lee Vidrine; her second husband, Chester Bertrand; a son, Wilbur Vidrine; a
sister, Onezia Vidrine; and two brothers, Johnny and Leander Courville.


Visiting hours were observed until 10 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. today until time of services.
A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m.

Paul Chautin


Funeral services for Mr. Paul Chautin, 58, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sibille Funeral
Home Chapel in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.


The Rev. Benny Reppond will conduct the services.


Mr. Chautin, a resident of Opelousas and a native of Pecaniere, died at 9:18 a.m. Tuesday,
February 1, 2000, in Opelousas General Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion Post 45
of Opelousas. Mr. Chautin was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an Industrial High Lines
Electrician.


Survivors include: his wife, Melba Call Chautin of Opelousas; two sons, Travis Chautin of
Opelousas and Berry Chautin of Rosenburg, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Trudy Roberts and Ms. Sonia
Chautin, both of Opelousas; two brothers, Boston J. Chautin Jr. of Opelousas and Merlin Chautin
of Reeves; a sister, Winola Ann Evans of Saxie, Texas; and five grandchildren.


Mr. Chautin was preceded in death by his parents, Boston Chautin Sr. and Enola Richard Chautin.


Visiting hours will be observed from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of
services. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. American Legion services will be held at
6:30 p.m.

WASHINGTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Really Young Joubert, 87, will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday in St. Peter Baptist Church here with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.


The Rev. Willie Pitre, pastor of Emma Zion Baptist Church of Washington, will conduct the
services.


Mrs. Joubert, a resident of Ayer, Mass., and a native of Washington, died Friday, January 28,
2000, in Woodford of Ayer Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Peter Baptist church while
residing in Washington and New Hope Baptist Church while residing in Ayer, Mass. Mrs. Joubert
was president of The Church Mission Department and church secretary for over 30 years.


Survivors include: a daughter, Mrs. Rose M. Bell of Ayer, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Antee Levine
of Opelousas and Mrs. Crela Edwards of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Thaddeus Bell, Melissa
Bell and Sheilah Bell; and a host of relatives and friends.


Mrs. Joubert was preceded in death by her father, Walter Young; her mother, Arie Winfred Young;
and her husband, Melvin Joubert.


A wake will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter Baptist Church of Washington.

Joseph Ned Sr.


LAWTELL - Graveside services for Mr. Joseph Louis Ned Sr., 62, were held at 10 a.m. today in
Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery here.


The Rev. Dennis conducted the services.


Mr. Ned died Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at his residence.


Survivors include: his wife, Helen Ned of Lawtell; three sons, Joseph Ned Jr. of Berkley,
Calif., Robert Ned of Wacoma, Wash., and Fredrick Ned of Lawtell; two daughters, Pamela Jenkins
of Opelousas and Constance Papillion of Lawtell; four brothers, John Willis Ned of Lewisburg,
Felix Ned, Roland Ned and Larry Ned, all of Opelousas; two sisters, Shirley Ned and Brenda
Carmouche, both of Opelousas; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.


Mr. Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Linda Ned; a brother, Donald Ned; and a
sister, Dorothy Lewis.

VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Mr. Jerome Soileau, 29, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in

Mr. Soileau died at 2:23 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2000, in Ville Platte Medical Center.


Survivors include: his wife, Tammy Soileau of Ville Platte; his parents, Royphy and Juanita
Soileau of Ville Platte; two sons, Jerome Soileau Jr. and Cordell Soileau, both of Ville Platte;
a daughter, Kelsey Shanice Soileau of Ville Platte; and four brothers, James Ronald Soileau,

Mrs. Bowie died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000, in Baton Rouge
Health Care.

Texas, Curtis John Bowie and wife Ernestine of Baker and Welton Don Bowie and
wife Karen of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Ivory B. Ransburg and husband
Frank of Baton Rouge, Carrie Bowie and Barbara B. Robertson and husband Kirk,
both of Baker, and Mary Joe Bowie of Zachary; a brother, Huey Goudeau of
Baton Rouge; a sister, Corine Wilson of New Orleans; 13 grandchildren; and
ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn a devoted cousin, Anderson
Taylor of San Francisco, Calif.; a host of nieces; nephews; a brother-in-law;
three sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.


Mrs. Bowie was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Arlene Walker; a
brother, Charles Simon; a sister, Olevia Williams; and aunts.

will conduct the services.


Mrs. Bryant, a resident of Eunice and a native of Ville Platte, died Monday,
January 31, 2000, in Opelousas. She was a member of Cathedral of Faith Church
of God in Christ.


Survivors include: three sons, Peter Lavine and John Edward Bryant, both of
Opelousas, and Johnny Lavine of Lafayette; six daughters, Catherine Denton
and Brenda Jones, both of Eunice, Mary Castille and Carolyn Augustine, both
of Beaumont, Texas, Genevia Bryant of Lafayette, and Johnnie Marks of
Carencro; a sister, Edna Gallow of Washington; 34 grandchildren; and 28
great-grandchildren. and a host of relatives and friends.


Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Bryant
Sr.; six sisters; three brothers; two daughters, Orelia Lazard and Mary Ann
Bryant; and two grandsons, Peter Lavine III and John L. Sion.

Mildred Canezaro


MARINGOUIN - Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred "Boo" Wyble Canezaro, 68, were
held at 10:30 a.m. today in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church here
with burial in the church mausoleum.


The Rev. Shelton Fabre conducted the services.


Mrs. Canezaro, a native of Port Barre and a resident of Maringouin for 52
years, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2000, following a long illness.
A member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Ladies Altar Society.


Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Guy Canezaro; a daughter, Diana
Canezaro of Maringouin; three sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Sandra
Zito Canezaro of Fordoche, Larry Canezaro of Port Allen and Terry and Louise
(Badeaux) Canezaro of Baker; two brothers, Dr. Merrick Wyble and Donald
Wyble, both of Opelousas; eight grandchildren and spouses, Lance Williams,
Mike and Dawn Williams, Dawn and James Bergeron, Jay Canezaro, Danielle and
Paul Hall, Erin Canezaro, Scotty Canezaro and Angela Canezaro; and seven
great-grandchildren, Maghan, Lance Jr., Gabrielle and Eric Williams, Tyler
Bergeron, Alexis Williams and Karli Hall.


Mrs. Canezaro was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse
Wyble of Port Barre; a sister, Thelma Wyble; and a brother, Eric Wyble.


Pallbearers were her grandchildren and nephews, Jay Canezaro, Mike Williams,
Paul Hall, James "Buck" Bergeron Jr., Glynn "Scoot" and Davy Canezaro.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Hines and staff, Dr. Raynado Banks and
staff, Dr. Carl Luikhart, Dr. Neal Smith, Dr. James O'Neal, Dr. Charles
Mitchell and Charles Browning.


Visiting hours were observed from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 10:15
a.m. today in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church hall in Maringouin.

Helen Crouchet


LAFAYETTE - Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Louise "Te-Boy" Crouchet, 93,
will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
here with burial in the church cemetery.


The Rev. Keith Derouen, pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist,
will conduct the services.


Mrs. Crouchet, a native of Lafayette, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, in
Magnolia Place Nurse Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Ernest
Crouchet and the former Philomen Coussan. Before her retirement, Helen worked
for over 30 years as a school teacher for the St. Landry Parish School Board
in Leonville. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
Christian Community, the White Oak Rosary Group and various teachers
associations.


Survivors include: several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Crouchet was preceded in death by her parents; eight sisters; and three
brothers.


Pallbearers will be Michael Kevin Guidry, Charles L. Guidry II, Edward H. Mc
Neely, Darrel James Mc Neely, C.J. Odom and William Borel. Honorary
pallbearers will be Ivan F. Miller, Charles H. Mc Neely III, Steve Odom and
Mark Louis Guidry.


Visiting hours will be observed from 2 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday
until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

Georgiana Darby


Funeral services for Mrs. Georgiana Savoy Darby, 90, will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday in Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in St.
Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.


The Rev. Philip Karangora will conduct the services.


Mrs. Darby died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at her residence. She
was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Court #8 for over 50 years. Mrs. Darby
was also a member of The Holy Ghost Senior Sodality and a Cursillio member.
She was the daughter of the late Gustave Savoy and Felicia Brown Savoy.


Survivors include: three sons, Clarence Darby Jr. and wife Kathleen of
Louisville, Ky., William Darby and Charles Darby and wife Yolanda, both of
Opelousas; three daughters, Georgia M. Darby of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rose Darby
and Agnes Darby, both of Opelousas; a brother, Preston Savoy Sr. of
Opelousas; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four
great-great-grandchildren.


Mrs. Darby was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Freddie,
Rogers, Clement and Willie Savoy; sisters, Josephine Stoot, Rosemary Cook and
Enola Savoy; and a godson, Edward Tongee Jr.


A wake will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday in Williams Funeral
Home of Opelousas, which is in charge of arrangements. A rosary will be
recited at 9 a.m. by Rev. Philip Karangora. A rosary will also be recited at
11:30 a.m. by the Ladies Auxiliary & Sodality.

Memorial Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annaretta "Mary" Fountain, 81, will be held at 9:30

Mrs. Fountain died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000, in Opelousas
General Hospital. She was a Senior Companion at LeCompte Inc. for seven years.


Survivors include: a stepson, Charles Henry Fountain of Opelousas; a
daughter, Delzora F. Mathis and husband Leroy of Opelousas; three
stepdaughters, Rosie Boykin and husband Curley of Houston, Texas, Betty
Washington and husband Joseph of Opelousas and Helen Jean Franklin and
husband Wilfred of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Wilferd Charles of Lawtell
and Allen Charles of Arnaudville; three sisters, Frances Barlow and Nola
Brooks, both of Sunset, and Bernice Brooks and husband Junius of Plaisance;
eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren;
24 step grandchildren; and 40 step great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mallet died at 10:23 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2000, in Opelousas
General Hospital.


Survivors include: two brothers, Walter Mallet Sr. of Arnaudville and
Clarence Mallet Sr. of Opelousas; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence M. Rideaux
of Port Barre and Mrs. Mildred M. Drake of Crowley. She also leaves to mourn,
like a son, Earl Dabney of Opelousas; her godchildren; and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.


Mrs. Mallet was preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers; and
three sisters.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services for Mr. Percy "Baboo" Morrison, 58, will be held

burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.


Mr. Morrison died at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2000, in Our Lady of
Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Mr. Williams died at 8:02 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2000, in Lafayette General
Hospital.

Clelia Bourque


Funeral services for Mrs. Austin Bourque, the former Clelia Mele', 80, will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Holy Sepulcher
Mausoleum.


The Rev. Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.


Mrs. Bourque, a resident of Opelousas, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2000, in
Doctors' Hospital of Opelousas.


Mrs. Bourque, a native of Naples, Italy, and a teacher in Italy, was a resident of Opelousas
since 1948. She met her husband when she was in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was an
interpreter (for he was able to speak Cajun French) and when the Army Unit moved from N. Africa
into Sicily, and Italy where the unit was when the War ended. She and her sister needed gas for
heating and cooking and when they asked the soldiers for help no one could understand them and
when she asked if anyone could speak French (Which is what she taught in school) she was told
that Mr. Bourque was the only one able to speak French. He did help them out and they were most
appreciative of the Soldier getting them the gas. The war ended and he returned to Opelousas.
They kept in touch and he asked her to marry him in a letter. Two years after the war he
returned to Italy and married Clelia and they moved to Opelousas, where she became a citizen of
the United States. She was a devoted wife and homemaker until her death. She will be sorely
missed.


Survivors include; a niece, Theresa Esposito of Naples, Italy; and a great-niece, Adella
Esposito of Naples, Italy.


Mrs. Bourque was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and a brother, Edia, Adella and
Armando Mele'; and her husband, Austin Andre' Bourque.


Visiting hours will be observed from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Saturday until time of
services. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Chaffee, a resident of Opelousas, died at 1 a.m. today (Friday, February 4, 2000) in
Opelousas General Hospital. He was a retired school teacher.


Survivors include: his wife, Ethel Mary Chaffee; a daughter, Eugenea Hagood of Opelousas; two
grandchildren, Lisa Cook of Baton Rouge and Robert Hagood of Salt Lake City; two great-
grandchildren, Larissa and Matthew Cook, both of Baton Rouge; and a nephew, Arden Chaffee of
Alva, Okla.

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgiana Savoy Darby, 90, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy
Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

Mrs. Darby died at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at her residence. She was a member of
the Ladies Auxiliary Court #8 for over 50 years. Mrs. Darby was also a member of The Holy Ghost
Senior Sodality and a Cursillio member. She was the daughter of the late Gustave Savoy and
Felicia Brown Savoy.


Survivors include: three sons, Clarence Darby Jr. and wife Kathleen of Louisville, Ky., William
Darby and Charles Darby and wife Yolanda, both of Opelousas; three daughters, Georgia M. Darby
of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rose Darby and Agnes Darby, both of Opelousas; a brother, Preston Savoy Sr.
of Opelousas; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.


Mrs. Darby was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Joseph, Freddie, Rogers, Clement
and Willie Savoy; three sisters, Josephine Stoot, Rosemary Cook and Enola Savoy; and a godson,
Edward Tongee Jr.


A wake will be held from 7 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday in Williams Funeral Home of Opelousas,
which is in charge of arrangements. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. by Rev. Philip Karangora.

Dr. Moser, a resident of Eunice, died at 10 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2000, in
Crowley. He was a doctor of optometry. Dr. Moser was a past president of the
Eunice Sertoma Club and Chairman of the Administrative Board at First United
Methodist Church of Eunice. He was appointed by Governors Roemer and Edwards
to serve on the Louisiana Board of Optometry Examiners from 1990-1995, also
as president form 1994-1995. Dr. Moser served on the La. Association of
Optometry, holding every office from 1981-1986, president 85-86. He also
enjoyed coaching Biddy Basketball and Eunice Girls' Softball.


Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Rhonda Fink Moser of Eunice; his parents,
J.C. and Irene Moser of Ponca City, Okla.; a son, Michal Ethan Moser of
Eunice; two daughters, Rebecca Erin Moser of Baton Rouge and Sarah Michel
Moser of Eunice; and two sisters, Nancy Laverty of Jones, Okla., and Randa
Bloomfield of Ponca City, Okla.

Grand Coteau. Mr. Quebedeaux was a veteran of the military, having served in
the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Quebedeaux and his wife Brenda, and Wayne Quebedeaux and his wife Dana, all

Mr. Giron died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2000, in Lafayette General
Hospital. He was a volunteer for Opelousas General Hospital. Mr. Giron was
also president of the P.T.A. of Holy Ghost School. He was the only Holy Ghost
Bingo Caller for many years. Mr. Giron was a member of the American Legion
Post 514 and the post treasurer for over 50 years, and a charter member of
the Foxes Social Club of Opelousas.


Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Helen Boyance Giron of Opelousas; two sons,
James Alvin Giron of New Orleans and Donald Edward Giron of Peoria, Ill.; a
daughter, Mrs. Rosemary G. Walker of Lafayette; two brothers, Herbert Giron

Great Catholic Church and a member of St. Leo Ladies Altar Society.

Mrs. Norman, the former Frances Chaisson, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 
15, 2000, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was a native of Scott and a 
resident of Opelousas. Mrs. Norman was a parishioner of Christ the King 
Church, St. Charles Parish.


Mourning her departure while cherishing precious memories are her five 
children, four daughters, Barbara Burnaba and husband Carl of Baytown, Texas, 
Evadell Ware and husband Floyd of Arlington, Texas, Joyce Marie Davis and 
husband Lorenzo of Alexandria and JoAnn Norman of Lake Charles, and a son, 
Joseph Ricky Norman of Opelousas; an honorary daughter, JoAnn Jordon of 
Opelousas; three step children, Joseph Norman and wife Aileen, and Margie 
Williams, both of Houston, Texas, and Gerald Collins and wife Barbara of New 
Orleans; two sisters, Hazel Matthews of Lafayette and Mary Skillman of Scott; 
and two brothers, Merlin Chaisson and Murphy Chaisson, both of Scott.


She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 
sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and a host of relatives and 
friends.


Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Domoville Norman; 
her parents; two brothers; and a sister.


The Normand and Chaisson families would like to express sincere thanks to Our 
Lady of Lourdes Hospital, family and friends who supported us in our time of 
need.

Mrs. Prather was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lizo Lafleur

Dallas Fontenot 

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services for Dallas A. Fontenot, 88, will be held at 10 
a.m. Monday in St. John the Evangelist Cathedral here with burial in the 
cathedral cemetery. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the service. Mr. 
Fontenot, a Ville Platte native, died at 6:59 p.m. Friday Feb. 18, 2000 in 
Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. He has been a resident of 
Lafayette since 1959. Mr. Fontenot was a self-made engineer and worked for 
the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as a soils 
engineer in the highway department's lab in Lafayette until his retirement in 
1972. Mr. Fontenot began his career in 1930 as an inspector for the DODT. He 
also worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad and became a real estate broker in 
1976. Mr. Fontenot was a past president and board member of the Louisiana 
Retirees Association and was past president of the Lafayette Chapter. He was 
honored in 1996 by the governor for outstanding service to the retirees of 
the state. He was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Community and 
was a past member of the Knight of Columbus. Survivors include: three sons, 
Winston Fontenot and his wife, Hilda of Opelousas, Bryan Fontenot and his 
wife Kathy of Soldotna, Alaska, and Ryan Fontenot and his wife, Marie of 
Carencro; 14 grandchildren, Karen Robison, Pamela Bolsins, Wynette Ducorbier, 
Keith Burdick, Lony Burdick, Ryan Fontenot Jr., Gerald Fontenot and City 
Huval; 21 great grandchildren, one great grandchild; one sister, Buelah 
Ardoin of Eunice; and one brother, Vernon Fontenot of Ville Platte. Mr. 
Fontenot was preceded in death by his parents, Jean-Baptist Fontenot and the 
former Eva Manuel of Ville Platte; his wife, Inez Duhon Fontenot; two sons, 
Wilray "Jack" Fontenot and Gene Aulden Fontenot; one brother, Chester 
Fontenot; and one grandson, Barth Burdick. Pallbearers are Bryan, Ryan, 
Gerald, Russell and Jeremy Fontenot, Troyce Ducorbier, Joe Britton and Phil

Mr. Meche, a resident of Opelousas and a native of Arnaudville, died at 12:25 
a.m. today (Wednesday, February 23, 2000) in Opelousas General Hospital. He 
was a long time banker in Opelousas. Mr. Meche was with the Planters Bank 
which later became the First Acadiana, the First National and now the Bank 
One. At his retirement, he was Senior Vice President and Casher. He was a 
veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Mr. Meche was a member 
of the American Legion. Survivors include: his wife, Bernice Zerangue Meche 
of Opelousas; a son, Daryl Dean Meche of Lake Charles; three daughters,

Goudeau died at 8 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2000, in Opelousas General

Marksville, Julia Osborne of Palmetto, Juliette Ponton of Fort Worth, Texas,

Weatheroy of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter she reared, Janet Lynn Norwood of 
Milwaukee, Wisc.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
Mrs. Goudeau was preceded in death by her parents, Ednis and Virginia 
Hickerson; and her husband, Preston Goudeau. Visiting hours will be observed

Fr. Donald Hebert 

MIRE - Funeral services for Father Donald Joseph Hebert, 57, will be held at 
10 a.m. Friday in Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church here with burial in 
church cemetery. Father Hebert, a resident of Mire, died Tuesday, February 
22, 2000, at his residence. He attended Immaculata Seminary in Lafayette, St. 
John Seminary in Little Rock, Ark., and graduated from Notre Dame in New 
Orleans in 1968. Father Hebert was ordained in Lafayette June 1, 1968. He was 
assistant pastor at St. Francis Regis in Arnaudville from 1968 until his 
assignment of assistant pastor in 1970 at St. Anthony in Eunice until he 
became pastor of St. Joseph in Cecilia in 1975. In 1980 he became pastor of 
St. Anthony in Eunice until he became administrator of Annunciation in 
Duralde in 1984. In 1985 he was pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints in 
Ville Platte until he became pastor of Assumption of the BVM Church in Mire 
in 1989 until his death. In 1977 he was named Diocesan Consultor and in 1987 
was on the Diocesan School Board for two terms. Survivors include: a sister, 
Barbara Hebert of New Orleans. Visiting hours will be observed from 8 a.m. 
today until time of services on Friday in the Assumption of the BVM Catholic 
Church in Mire. Rosaries will be recited at 4 and 7 p.m. Gossen Funeral Home

of Ville Platte, Charles Richard and his wife Katherine of Opelousas, and

was the last survivor of 15 children of the late Jean Pierre and Avia Marie

Rev. Dave Andrus. Mrs. Serrin, the former Ecta Stelly, died 9 p.m. Friday at 
Opelousas General Hospital. She was a native and resident of Grand Coteau. 
Survivors include: her husband, Eddie Serrin of Grand Coteau; a son, Oscar 
Marks, and his wife, Neva, of Grand Coteau; a sister, Rita Leblanc of Harvey; 
and seven grandchildren, Mickey Marks, and his wife, Elaine, Paul H. Marks, 
and his wife, Gail, Dennis J. Marks, and his wife, Sandra, Neil J. Marks, and 
his wife, Linda, Ginger Labus, and her husband, Patrick, Roxanne Latiolais, 
and her husband, Bobby, and Donna Leblanc, and her husband, Chad. Mrs. Serrin 
was preceded in death by her first husband, Cleophas Marks; her parents, 
Dennis Stelly and the former Josephine Quebedeaux; five brothers; three 
sisters; a granddaughter, Romana Marks; and a grandson, Ronald Marks. 
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. to time of service Monday 
at Melancon Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Sunday. Pallbearers

Stelly.

Dana Angelle 
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services for Ms. Dana Angelle, 35, will be held at 10 
a.m. Tuesday in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille here with burial in St. 
Peter Cemetery in Carencro. 

The Rev. Gilbert Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will 
conduct the services. Valerie Andrus, organist, will sing for the service, 
"Amazing Grace", "Isaiah 49", "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "In My Way". 

Ms. Angelle, a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, died Saturday, 
February 26, 2000, in Breaux Bridge. Dana received her BA in Psychology from 
the University of West Florida and her MA in Marriage and Family Counseling 
from Northeast Louisiana University. 

She was employed by the Sheriff Departments in Lafayette, St. Martin, 
Vermilion and Acadia Parishes as Sousbus Program Director. 

As a hypnotherapist and a marriage and family counselor, Dana completed 
extensive educational training which included competed certification for 
Ericksonian Clinical Hypnosis as a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with a 
specialization in addiction; competed certification for Moral Reconation 
Therapy as a certified MRT therapist; certified mediation counselor for 
Domestic and Commercial Mediation with Settlement Consultants, Inc. of 
Dallas, Texas; and had also completed her certification for HIV Serological 
Counseling and Partner Notification Training which is provided by US Dept. of 
Health and Hospital Services, Centers of Disease Control. 

Dana's professional associations included her membership and current training 
to transfer to supervisor status of the American Association of Marriage and 
Family Therapy; membership of the Louisiana Association of Marriage and 
Family Therapy; and in 1989 received lifetime membership of the Honor Society 
of Phi Kappa Phi. In addition, as a licensed professional counselor, Dana was 
currently in active supervision and had passed the National Counselor's Exam 
since 1993. 

Survivors include: her mother, Janell Savoy LeBlanc of Lafayette; a sister, 
Jill Angelle of Baton Rouge; and her maternal grandfather, Edwin Savoy. She 
was preceded in death by her father, Rodney Angelle; maternal grandmother, 
Bernice Savoy; and paternal grandparents, Moise Angelle and Elridge Hollier 
Angelle. 

Visiting hours will be observed from 2 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. 
Tuesday until time of services. 

Pallbearers will be Rodney Hebert, Fred Domingue, Moise Angelle, Erroll 
Menard, Vincent Lavergne and Jill Angelle.

Mrs. Stelly, a resident of Port Barre, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, February 27, 
2000, in Opelousas General Hospital. She was a retired file clerk and 
receptionist with Opelousas General Hospital for many years. Mrs. Stelly died 
on the anniversary of her marriage (46 years). 

Survivors include: two sons, Riley James Stelly of Arnaudville and Leroy 
Joseph Stelly Sr. of Port Barre; two daughters, Mrs. Glenda S. Moreau of 
Opelousas and Mrs. Donna Fontenot of Port Barre; four brothers, Elrick Taylor 
Jr. of Holly Beach, Leo Taylor of Port Barre, Murnest Taylor of Pecaniere and 
Albert Taylor of Arnaudville; four sisters, Doresa Stelly, Annette Hebert and 
Earline Thibodeaux, all of Arnaudville, and Lolena Cueves of Mississippi; her 
father, Elrick Taylor Sr. of Arnaudville; her companion of many years, 
Eustache Lormand Sr. of Arnaudville; 14 grandchildren; and 11 
great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Stelly was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Stelly; a brother, 
Alex Taylor Sr.; and her mother, Marcelite Taylor. 

Pallbearers will be Leroy Stelly Jr., Brent Charles Menard, Joey Lance 
Fontenot, Leroy Stelly Sr., James Vincent Stelly and Gregory Jacob Stelly.
