Dubuisson Jr. and John Francis Dubuisson; his parents, Edward B. Dubuisson and Rosa Dupre Dubuisson; seven brothers, Philip Dubuisson, Edward Dubuisson, H. Garland Dubuisson, Richard L. Dubuisson, John F. Dubuisson, Nick D. Dubuisson and Dr. George Dubuisson; and a sister, Isabel Dubuisson Castille. A graduate of the West Point class of 1940, Dubuisson was a first string back on the Army football team. After his graduation in 1940, he served in the 7th Armored Division during World War II. He participated in the European Invasion as part of General Patton's Third Army and he retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel. Mr. Dubuisson was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star With Two Oak Leaf Clusters, and his unit received the Belgian Croix de Guerre. Following his return to Louisiana, he entered Tulane Law School and upon graduation, he returned to Opelousas to begin the practice of law with the family firm. A dedicated full-time attorney until his recent illness, he served as President of the St. Landry Parish Bar Association, and was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the St. Landry Parish Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Before receiving a bachelor's degree from Southern University, she began teaching school with a high school diploma, some college credits and a temporary teaching certificate. She began teaching at Mount Salem Baptist Church at Jacoby, because in those days there were no public school buildings for blacks in Point Coupee Parish. She leaves to mourn her passing, yet cherish her memory, a son, Charles I. Hudson of Opelousas; a grandson, Donovan K. Hudson of Baton Rouge; a daughter-in-law, Rose J. He taught agriculture in Palmetto and Arnaudville before he joined the U.S. Air Corps where he served from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Rabalais returned to Arnaudville to teach until 1952 at which time he was appointed principal of Leonville High School. In 1964, he was appointed as Assistant Superintendent of St. Landry Parish Schools. After his retirement in 1971, he compiled an extensive inventory of all schools in the parish. He served on the Arnaudville Town Council from 1948 to 1952, and 1975 to 1988. Mr. Rabalais was a St. Francis Regis Church Trustee for 12 years and Church Parish Council President for six years. He was a long time member of the American Legion and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. Sister Helmer died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in New Orleans. The former Colleen Helmer, born in Monroe, is the daughter of the late Catherine Popovich Helmer and John Helmer. She entered the Marianites of Holy Cross in New Orleans in 1951, pronounced her first vows in 1953 and made final profession in 1956. Having studied at Tulane University and Spencer Business School, Sister spent the early part of her religious life teaching elementary and secondary school (mostly business and commercial courses). She taught at St. Agnes, St. Rita and Holy Name of Mary Schools in New Orleans and also at high schools in Morgan City, Franklin, Eunice, Ocean Springs and Opelousas where she taught from 1967 to 1978. Intrigued with flying, Sister Mary served for some time as a volunteer Civil Air Patrol squadron commander. After a brief time at Our Lady of Holy Cross, Sister devoted herself from 1979 to 1991 to the care of her elderly mother in Mobile, Ala., returning to Our Lady of Holy Cross, she helped out in the Library and rendered community service until her always troublesome physical condition confined her to the infirmary. In 1992 Sister moved to Wynhoven Nursing Home in Marrero where she was active in resident activities. Following a lengthy hospital stay when diabetes forced the amputation of her lower leg, Sister resided at Our Lady of Wisdom. Survivors include: a brother, John Helmer of Huntsville, Ala.
