He was a road salesman for Coburn Supply Co. for 20 years. Mr. Guilbeau was a board member of the St. Landry Cattleman's Assoc. and also Lewisburg-Bellevue Water System. He was also an usher for Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Mr. DeJean, "Red" as he was affectionately known, a native of Opelousas and a resident of Lake Charles, died in Springfield, Mass., at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2000. He was a retired city worker with the City of Lake Charles and served in World War II, having fought in the Philippines and the Marshall Island until the war was over in 1945. A long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mr. DeJean, served as an usher at the 11 a.m. Mass and was also a member of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Peter Claver. Survivors include: his wife, Margie DeJean and a stepson, Irvin Batiste, both of Springfield, Mass.; a sister, Irene DeJean of Lake Charles; a brother, Rev. Eroy DeJean of Opelousas; two aunts, Caroline Robert of Opelousas and Gussie Lavine of Lake Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He taught at the former St. Landry School until entering the army for service during World War II, during which time he served in Korea, Africa and New Guinea as a staff sargent engineer foreman. After returning home from the war, he taught masonry at the Lawtell Vocational School. Survivors include: a son, Tony Frank Jr. of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Frank Crosley of Houston and Theresa Frank Renaud of Opelousas; a foster-daughter, Lillian Thompson Charles of Sunset; a sister, Liede Frank of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
