He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and obtained the rank of Chief Yeoman. Mr. Godet owned and operated the Teche Motel in Port Barre for 44 years. He was Mayor of Port Barre for 17 1/2 years. During his tenure as Mayor, he accomplished many projects and obtained several grants for the restoration of streets and sewerage systems throughout the City of Port Barre. He married in 1945 in New Orleans. Mr. Godet was the 1930 valedictorian of his graduating class at Port Barre High School. He worked for Sam Grimmett Oil Field Service Company for 18 years. Douglas Mankin LAFAYETTE - Memorial services for Mr. Douglas Cole Mankin, 52, Executive V.P. and CEO of LaHaye Total Eye Care, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 11, in Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Boulevard here. Mr. Mankin died July 25, 2000, in Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Wash., following extensive chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. Survivors include: his wife, Cathy of Lafayette; two sons, Cole of Lafayette and Drew of Houston, Texas; two stepdaughters, Stacy Maurer of Clarksville, Tenn., and Jody Jones of White Cloud, Mich.; his parents, Arthur and Earlene Mankin; a sister, Sheri Casenave of Stockton, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Martha Devries of Creston, Iowa; his father-in-law, Fred Collings of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four step grandchildren; and two nephews. Mr. Mankin was born July 1, 1948, in Washington, D.C. He grew up in the Stockton, Calif., area. Mr. Mankin received his B.A. Degree at Sacramento State College, MBA and MPHA from the University of Missouri. He served in Vietnam with the 23rd Medical Battalion where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. While serving in Vietnam, as a clinical specialist, he helped support a number of orphanages in the area. Prior to joining the LaHaye Total Eye Care Center in September 1994, he served as a Hospital Administrator, CEO in Davis, Calif.; New Orleans; Houston, Texas; Nebraska; Los Angeles, Calif. and Farmington, New Mexico. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lafayette and Opelousas, Rotary Club, American Legion Post 69, American Public Health Association, American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and a Diplomat of the American College of Health Care Executives. Frank Hinckley III A great guy, Frank Brown Hinckley III, was born in Galveston, Texas, on March 15, 1916, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2000. He married the love of his life, Dorothy A. Dupre of Opelousas, August 12, 1939. They enjoyed almost 61 years of marriage and had four wonderful children. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Glen Hinckley and his wife Marlee, a daughter, Suzanne Allen and her husband Mike, a son, Frank Hinckley IV and his wife Nancy, all of Dallas, Texas; and a daughter, Sheri Moore and her husband David of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, Stacy and Russell Davis, Christine and Brad Estes, Alen and Denise Hinckley, Michael Allen, Leslie Hinckley, David and Jill Allen, Taylor Hinckley, John Hinckley, Scott Hinckley and Annie Hinckley, Brian and Lauren Moore; F.B.'s four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Sarah Davis, Hannah Estes and Jackson Hinckley; and a brother, Jere Bob Hinckley. F.B. graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Southern Methodist University. He was President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a member of Ukhuwwat-i-Sharot honorary society his sophomore year, a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a junior, and Men's Panhellenic senior honorary organization. He was selected one of the ten outstanding seniors at SMU, served on the Student Council, and was a member of Cycen-Fjodr honorary organization. He was a member of an East Dallas pioneering family who manufactured Cotton Gin Machinery, owned The Arctic Ice Cream Co., and The Hinckley Cold Storage Co. with his brothers, Joe and Jere, and his parents, Frank and Willie Mae Hinckley Jr. FB retired as Chairman of the Board in 1995. He was well-known for his sweet nature and gentle ways, his sense of humor, his love of fishing and boating on the "Dottie Too", his "engineer's" answer for his grandchildren's questions, his secrets to a happy marriage, and his loyalty and dedication to his family. It was said that he taught over 100 people to waterski. He was an authentic man, a real encourager, patient and kind, and he unconditionally loved all those around him. Survivors include: three daughters, Romona Robin of Ville Platte, Mrs. Carolyn Burghdoff and Mrs. Tammy Marks, both of Arnaudville; two brothers, Leonard Robin of Arnaudville and Antoine Robin of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Latiolais of Arnaudville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
