Mr. Thibodeaux died Wednesday evening, November 29, 2000, at the Savoy Medical Center in Mamou, following a short illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a fourth degree knight. Survivors include: his wife, Rose Mary Fontenot Thibodeaux or Pine Prairie; one son, Roderick J. Mr. Lafleur was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Woodmen of the World and the Usher Society of St. Landry Catholic Church. Miriam Anderson Funeral services for Ms. Miriam Claire Anderson, 32, are incomplete at this time. Ms. Anderson, a resident of New Orleans and a native of New Iberia, died Saturday, December 2, 2000, at her New Orleans residence in the French Quarter where she resided for over 11 years. Miriam graduated from Mt. Carmel High School. In her senior year, she earned the highest award given in Girl Scouting, the Gold Award, under troop leader Gloria Girard. She earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from USL (UL of L) and a Masters Degree from the University of New Orleans in Arts Administration. Her hobby and great enjoyment was photography. Miriam was employed by Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. She was a volunteer at New Orleans Children's Museum and the McDonough #15 Garden Club. She was an enthusiastic volunteer for many civic and art events in New Orleans and the Quarter. Miriam will be missed by many, many dear friends. Survivors include: her mother, Gara M. Anderson; a brother, Benjamin Augustus "Chip" Anderson III; and two sisters and their spouses, Rebecca Anderson Provost and Braxton, and Libby Anderson Gajan and Paul, all of New Iberia. She is also survived by four nephews, Brandon Anderson, Justin Gajan, Tyler Gajan and Ryan Gajan, and two nieces, Kathleen Watson and Courtney Gajan, all of New Iberia. Mr. Godeaux, a resident of Opelousas, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2000, in Opelousas General Hospital. He was the owner and operator of Gene Godeaux Insurance Agency in Opelousas for the past 35 years. Prior to owning his own agency he was an insurance agent for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company. Mr. Godeaux primarily wrote insurance for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company during this time he was inducted into Mass. Mutual's Million Dollar Round Table. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Society, the Elks Club of Opelousas, the Opelousas Jaycees and was very active in the Opelousas Catholic Booster Club. Mr. Godeaux will be missed by his entire family and his many, many friends. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mrs. Gauthier was born July 11, 1906, in Plaisance to Octave and Alma Pitre Thierry. She was baptized in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington and attended school in St. Landry Parish. Mrs. Gauthier married Frank Gauthier and they were the parents of three daughters, Theresa, Mildred and Marie. They were farmers for many years in the Grand Prairie community. She taught religion to the children in the community and gave elementary instructions to those who were not old enough to walk to school. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Washington and very involved in church activities and worked very hard in fundraising activities. Mrs. Gauthier went to mass every day when she was able. She served as president of the Ladies Altar Society at Holy Trinity. In addition to being a housewife, mother and farmer's helper, she served as care giver for unwed mothers, and an aide with the Council on Aging. When she could no longer live alone, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Rufus Frugie in Beaumont, Texas, and eventually moved to Grambling to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Richard Gallot. While in Grambling, she attended St. Benedict Catholic Church where she quickly established membership and enjoyed the many activities taking place there and at Grambling State University as well.
