Patricia Perkins Patricia Bienvenu Perkins died February 27, 2001. Born on January 22, 1918, in Opelousas to George Joseph and Patrick Lee Thompson "Pattie" Bienvenu. Obtained her nursing degree from the Charity Hospital of Louisiana School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1940. She volunteered to join the United States Navy Corps and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Corps in May of 1943. Spent the duration of World War II serving in England in the Corps' Naval Base Hospital #12 near the English Channel coast, a base hospital which treated wounded allied soldiers direct from the Normandy beaches during the invasion of France in 1944. Left the Navy in 1946 and returned to Louisiana, where she attended Southwestern University in Lafayette and was recalled by the Navy when the Korean War began, serving in San Diego during the duration of the conflict. She received her Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1953 and moved to Corpus Christi and then Harlingen, Texas, where she met and married Arthur V. Perkins. They had two children and lived in ten different cities and states during their 45-year marriage, settling in Houston in 1967. She continued working as a nurse and medical secretary throughout her life, working for many years in Houston for Dr. Frank Lanza in whose office she made many close and valued friendships. Ms. Perkins was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; her brothers, George Joseph and Edward Joseph Bienvenu; and her sister, Dorothy Lee Ramsey. Survivors include: her daughter, Mary Julia; a son, Arthur Val, his wife Carole Dickinson and their child James Valentine, her beloved grandson; her sister, Virginia Louise; her brother, James Robert; and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their offspring in the extended Bienvenu family. Friends were invited to visitation with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Drawing room of The Settegast-Kopf Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. today (Thursday, March 1) in the Rice Catholic Student Center Chapel, 1703 Bolsover. Mrs. Olivier was born in the Bayou Portage settlement moving to Arnaudville in the early 1940s and living her remaining life there. Having become a widow in 1963 at age 48, Mrs. Olivier commenced working in the food processing industry until her retirement at the age of 70. She enjoyed and maintained close contacts with her family, including with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Olivier's cooking was another passion; people in the Arnaudville area still talk about "Mrs. Elie's great sandwiches." Survivors include: her son, LeRoy J. "L.J." Olivier and his wife Dolores Ann Martin Olivier of Lafayette; her grandson, John Michael Olivier and his wife Hope of Lafayette; her granddaughter, Debra Ann Olivier Lormand and her husband Randy of McKinney, Texas; three great grandchildren, Jacqueline Breard Olivier, Victoria Ann Olivier and Charles Allen Lormand. She was a former member of the Opelousas Garden Club and the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Doctors Hospital. While living in Japan, she was a member of Ikebanna International and received a certificate for flower arranging from the Sogetsu School. Tucker served in the Pacific Theater in World War II with the 3rd Marine Division. Severely wounded in the first wave of the invasion at Iwo Jima, he was awarded his second purple heart. He was in the insurance business for many years in Alexandria and Opelousas. Tucker was involved over the years in numerous organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Kiwanis and Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and the Cursillo, numerous insurance organizations and was an active member of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Third Marine Division Association. Mr. Turregano is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline DeJean Turregano; ten children, Eleanor G. Casteix, Christopher M. Henderson, Virginia T. Zeigler, Julie T. Rosenberg, Frances M.
