Romero conducted the services. Mr. Fuselier, a resident of Ville Platte, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Ville Platte. He was a computer network specialist. Mr. McCardell died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at his residence. He was born in Franklin and graduated from Hanson Memorial High School of Franklin in 1939. Mr. McCardell then attended Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute or SLI, now knows as the Univeristy of Louisiana at Lafayette or ULL. After college, Mr. McCardell joined the U. S. Navy Air Corps in World War II and served in the Pacific as a torpedo bomber pilot on an aircraft carrier. He was discharged from the U. S. naval Air Corps in 1946. After Mr. McCardell's discharge from the Air Corps, he moved to Opelousas and worked for the St. Landry Parish Health Unit until his retirement as Chief Sanitarian. Mr. McCardell spent his retirement hunting and fishing with his grandsons. Besides being an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a devoted husband and father volunteering as a baseball coach in the St. Landry Parish summer league for kids. He was also a member of the St. Landry Parish Sportsmans League and was a charter member of the Lil' Alabama Hunting Club and will be missed by family and friends.
