(Opelousas, La.) 1890-1921, January 23, 1915, Page 5, Image 5 Mrs. Mentor Andrus, Sr. Mrs. Irma Richard, widow of Mentor Andrus, Sr., died in this city at the home of her grandson, A. L. Andrus, on Friday, the 15th inst., aged ninety- three years, six months and eight days. One is not often permitted to attain this age. To live within a few years of a century, is an achievement by itself. To live as did the deceased, is an example worthy of emulation. The deceased was bereft of her husband a short while after marriage. He was survived by an only son, Mentor Andrus, who died about a year ago. She was throughout her entire life, a devout Christian. In constant attendance upon services. Her life was patterned after the Master she faithfully served, - and as she sank to eternal rest, she did so with the hope of life eternal. Surely if the dead live again, she is among the blest. In a few remarks at the grave, Father Enberink highly complimented her granson, Mr. A. L. Andrus, for his devotion to his aged grandparent. He stated his conduct ought serve as an example to the rising generation. The deceased is survived by two grandsons, Messrs. A. L. Andrus of this city and Armand Andrus of Carencro, three granddaughters and a number of great grandchildren.
