DIED - At the residence of her parents, in Opelousas,, on Sunday, July 24, 
1892, HELEN ANDRUS, daughter of E. S. Andrus and Ida Hadden, aged 15 years, 8 
months and 24 days.

"Whom the gods love die young."

This sunny tempered child was a favorite with all who knew her and left a ray 
of sunshine, the reflex of her bright and cheery disposition, wherever she 
went. Not only was she beloved by her schoolmates and companions, the boys and 
girls who in unusually large numbers attended with grief-stricken countenances  
and tear dimmed eyes her peculiarly sad obsequies, but those of maturer years 
who were brought in the "charmed circle" of her gladsome presence could not 
resist the fascination which her kind and affectionate nature, her sweet temper 
and winning ways weaved as with a magic spell around them. They all loved her; 
and many and bitter were the tears which mingled with those of her sorely 
bereaved parents and relatives at her untimely demise. To these afflicted ones, 
words of mere earthly consolation at such a time are meaningless. Time, the 
great healer, will soften their poignant grief, and the blessed hope that after 
her brief, sweet sip of earth their loved one but "fell asleep to wake in 
heaven," will bind up their lacerated hearts and bring to their lips the words: 
"Thy will, oh, Lord, not mine, be done!"

NOTE: Helen Andrus , daughter of Elisha Andrus and Ida Hadden, is buried at the 
Myrtle Grove Cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA.
