Gilbert Baillio, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Washington, expired at his home on last Friday evening at 8:30 p. m. in the seventy-seventh year of age. Mr. Baillio served through the Civil war as a lieutenant in Company A, second Louisiana Calvalry, Col. G. W. Vincent's regiment. Upon his return from the war in the 60's Mr. Baillio went into the mercantile business at Washington, where he remained until his death. the deceased served as justice of the peace at Washington for a number of years. He is survived by his widow, Mary McDavid, one son, George R. Baillio who is a prominent business man of Washinton, and a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Vidrine, of New Orleans, besides a number of grandchildren, and great-grand- children. Interment was made in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic order, of which he had been a member for many years.
