He was born in Labarthe Triand, Hte. Garonne, France, and had been a resident of this community for 53 years. CHRONOLOGY. On the 2nd of this month, at Church Point, in the parish of Acadia, the spirit of Mr. Jean Barousse passed away from this earthly sphere to fulfill a higher mission in the world beyond. After a well spent life, and after raising and educating his children, he was called by his maker to continue in the next world the good work he had performed here. The deceased left five children - two sons and three daughters - to mourn his loss. Although taken away in the full plenitude of a ripe old age, still his children were not prepared to give him up, and a sad and aching void has been left in their hearts, which time alone can heal. It will be the proud privilege of his children to speak with pleasure of the good traits of their parent who died as he had lived - a good, true and upright citizen. Further remarks would be useless, as Mr. Jean Barousse was to well known to require any eulogy or praise. May his ashes rest in peace, and may his children live to reach his age and life, and to do the good that he has done. Vale, vale, eternumque, vale! *2nd OBITUARY* source: The Opelousas Courier.
