Death of Rudolph Bodemuller.

The death of Rudolph Bodemuller, which occurred Monday evening, July 8, 
1907, at 2:30 o'clock, cast a gloom over the community in which he lived and 
in which he had lead a life of uprightness and scrupulous honesty and in 
which he was held in the highest esteem.

Deceased was 54 years, 1 month and 3 days at the time of his death, and had 
been a resident of Opelousas since the age of about 12 years, when he came 
from Germany with his father and located here.

He had enjoyed good health until about a year ago, when the dread disease 
which snuffed out his life made itself manifest. It began with a small 
pimple on the cheek, which grew and became ulcerous and when he went to New 
Orleans for treatment was unhesitatingly pronounced a cancer of a malignant 
type. He remained in New Orleans for four months, until the medical 
profession informed him that there was no hope of a cure - and he came home 
to die! For several months he has been awaiting death, every day getting 
more amaciated and weaker, until the summons came Monday.

The funeral took place from the family residence at 5 o'clock Tuesday 
evening, the interment being made in the Catholic cemetery after 
solemnization of the funeral rites in the Catholic church.

Peace to his ashes.

cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA.
