Bowden, aged 45 years, died at the family residence in Opelousas on Friday evening, June 13, 1900. Mr. Bowden had been in failing health for many months, with that dread disease, consumption, and the end had been expected for some time. He was a good man in every sense of the word; a kind father, a true friend, and a conscientious Christian gentleman. Mr. Bowden was once a prominent figure in political affairs in Acadia Parish, and was for some years Mayor of Rayne. He ran for Clerk of Court of that parish for two successive times, and each time was defeated by majorities under one hundred votes. To the bereaved family, the Clarion extends its heatfelt (sic) condolence. Additional Comments: NOTE: Thomas Peter Bowden, Sr. is buried in section 10 of the Saint Landry Catholic Church cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. www.findagrave.com memorial # 112395971 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/stlandry/obits/b/bowdensr6003gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
