Creamer marykcreamer@yahoo.com May 8, 2015, 5:43 pm The Opelousas Courier (Opelousas, La.) 1852-1910, December 07, 1889, Image 1 Mrs. Euphrasie Roy, wife of Mr. Martin Budd, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon, at her home in Opelousas, aged 55 years, 11 months and 8 days. Friends and neighbors hurried to her bedside on being apprised of her illness, only to find that the dread messenger, Death, had preceded them and that their ardent hopes for her recovery and proffered kindly ministrations were alike unavailing. Thus - bitter irony of fate! - she who had so often and with such unflagging steadfastness ministered to the sick and dying whenever and wherever the call for assistance reached her ears; she, who had so frequently played the part of the Good Samaritan among her friends and neighbors, was deprived at the supreme moment - so swift was the summons - of the sweet consolation of gazing into a kindly eye and feeling the touch of a sympathetic hand! Though her path lay in the humbler walks of life, the large concourse of people who attended the estimation in which she was held in the community, and proved that such qualities as she possessed in so eminent a degree are appreciated at their true value among us. We tender to the bereaved husband and family our sincere sympathy.
