GUSTAVE CAHANIN - After an illness of several months, Gustave Cahanin died 
Tuesday night, Sept. 21, at 10:15 o'clock, aged 49 years, 4 months and 9 days.

The funeral took place from the Catholic church Wednesday afternoon at 4:45 
o'clock.

Mr. Cahanin had been a life-long resident of Opelousas, and before he was 
stricken was prominent in business circles, and several times served as a 
member of the city council.

He leaves a widow and a large family, to whom the Clarion extends heartfelt 
condolences.

TRIBUTE OF RESPECT.

Hall St. Landry Lodge No 4, Ancient Order of United Workmen, Opelousas, La., 
Sept. 22d, 1910.

At a meeting held on the above date, St. Landry Lodge No. 4, A. O. U. W., 
passed the following preamble and resolutions:

Whereas, it has pleased Almighty God, in His inscrutable wisdom, to call from 
our companionship our esteemed brother Gustave Cahanin, and Whereas, this 
community and our fraternity have lost an honest, respected and upright citizen 
and member, and his family an affectionate and devoted husband and father; 
therefore, be it Resolved, That this Lodge extend to the family of our much 
regretted brother its sympathy and condole with them in their bereavement; that 
the members of our Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning, and that our charter 
be also draped in mourning for thirty days. Be it further Resolved, That a copy 
of this tribute to the memory of our deceased brother be sent to his family, 
and that this tribute be also published in the local papers.
