Chachere, near Opelousas, on Saturday, Jan. 26, 1895, Veilland Chachere, aged 93 years, 8 months and 1 day. This good old man passed away in the sear and yellow leaf of life, beloved and esteemed by all who knew him. He was one of the old landmarks of the parish, and one of the progenitors of the large and influential family which bears his name. He always lead an active life, and up to a few years before the infirmities of extreme old age and failing eyesight compelled him to remain indoors, was a familiar figure on our streets. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery on Monday evening. Peace to his ashes.
