Clark, aged 78 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. C. Webb, at 2 o'clock yesterday morning. He had been confined to his room for more than two years by reason of failing eyesight, and his death was due to natural causes at his advanced age. Dr. Clark had lived in this immediate vivinity practically all the years of his life, maintaining his old home near Branch until a few years ago, after the death of his wife he came to Rayne. He was a member of the police jury when this section was a part of St. Landry parish, and after the creation of Acadia he served as president of the police jury here from 1886 until 1904. Under his administration the court house at Crowley was erected. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elmer C. Gunn, pastor of Rayne M. E. church at the home of his daughter, at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, and interment was made in the Protestant cemetery at 5:30 o'clock. He is survived by one son, Dr. Leon Clark of Iota, and his daughter, Mrs. R. C. Webb of Rayne. - Rayne Tribue. Additional Comments: NOTE: Dr. Bennet E. Clark was the son of Valentin C. Clark and Frances McClellon. He married Irma Chahcere, daughter of Beaurepaire Chachere and Eugenie Lavernge on 7 May 1878. He was first married to Delia Andrus.
