Mrs. Lise Gaurigue, wife of Edmond Dejean, a well known and prosperous farmer, residing about five miles west of this city, died at the family home on Thursday evening at five o'clock and was buried in this city Friday afternoon at five o'clock, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Dejean was connected with one of the most prominent familes of this parish and was well known in Opelousas and other points in this parish. At the time of her death she was sixty-six years five months and twenty-three days. She leaves her husband and seven children, besides scores of close relatives and friends to mourn her departure. The deceased had been seriously ill since the beginning of the new year, and relatives from Texas and other points in Louisiana were called to the bedside of this venerable lady a few days before she expired. A large number of friends and relatives followed the corpse to the Catholic cemetery, where the deceased was buried with all honors of the church she was a member of, on Friday evening.
