On last Monday morning at 5:30 o'clock there passed into the Great Beyond, the pure and beautiful soul of Miss Laure Dejean, 77 years, 3 months and 12 days, daughter of the late J. B. Dejean, a pioneer settler of Leonville. Miss Dejean, who had always led a pure and religious life, was ready to die long before Death beckoned her to join the great majority, she had received all consolation of religion and succumbed to a peaceful death. She was a devoted Christian, being a faithful member of the Catholic Church. The venerable old lady was loved, honored and revered by all her nephews and nieces, as well as all who came into contact with her. She was a sister-in-law of Judge Arthur Simon and greatly assisted Mr. and Mrs. Simon in rearing the Simon children. She was like a real mother to all of them and each one was raised with a heart full of love and devotion for Miss Dejean. The interment was made on the Catholic cemetery, where a large concourse of friends and relatives of the deceased assembled to pay their last tribute to one of the noblest old ladies of the community.
