Mr. Alfred Deville, for several years a member of the parish school board 
directors, whilst Evangeline and St. Landry parishes were one, died at his 
home in Ville Platte Tuesday evening. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery 
at Grand Prairie.

Mr. Deville was a prominent man of Evangeline, and was very popular with the 
people of the old parish, St. Landry. His death came as a surprise to the 
entire community here and it is needless to add that he will be greatly 
missed by the people of both Evangeline and St. Landry parishes.
