Mrs. Josephine Mirza Stagg, widow of the late Edouard Dubuisson, expired on last Sunday morning at the age of 84 years and 8 months, at the home of her son, Hon. E. B. Dubuisson. Mrs. Dubuisson was connected with the most prominent families in Southwest Louisiana, being related to leading citizens of St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline and Rapides parishes. She was a venerable old lady, enjoying the highest esteem of all those who knew her in her youth, as well as in her old days. In her girlhood days she was wedded to Edouard Dubuisson, who was at the time of his death one of St. Landry's leading merchants and planters. Mrs. Dubuisson is the mother of Hon. E. B. Dubuisson, prominent lawyer, banker and planter, as well as several girls, who are married to leading men of this section, Miss Cora, being the only one not married. Out of respect to the memory of the mother of the president of the Opelousas National Bank, the bankers of Opelousas in a body marched in the funeral procession, having closed their institutions during the hour of burial. Practically every business man in Opelousas attended the funeral ceremonies and many from the surrounding parishes and towns came to Opelousas on Monday morning to pay their last tribute to a noble old lady. Father Engerbrink delivered an appropriate eulogy at the interment, pointing out that Mrs. Dubuisson was one of the old type of ladies of the good old times, she had raised a large and influential family and through her teachings and example had succeeded rearing an exemplary family. Additional Comments: Josephine Mirza Stagg is buried in the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. She was the daughter of Philippe Stagg and Josephine Guillory, both parents being buried in the Old Grand Prairie Cemetery.
