The funeral was held yesterday (Friday) afternoon at 5 o'clock, with services at the Catholic church and interment in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Durio had been confined to bed for some time with illness but apparently he was on the road to recovery and was seemingly improving Thursday morning. Just a few days prior to his death he was feeling so much better that he expected to resume his work superintending the upkeep of the city streets in a short time. The deacsed (sic) was a native of St. Landry, having been born and reared a few miles west of Opelousas and had resided in this city for many years. He was the eldest son of Eraste Durio and a member of one of St. Landry's largest and best known families. Besides his father, he leaves a wife and six children, three girls, three boys, and besides a large circle of relatives. Octave Durio had a remarkable disposition - kind, lovable and charitable at all times. So genial was his temperament that he gathered about him a large number of warm personal friends. He was serving his second term as street commissioner of this city, having been selected by the city council three years ago and again selected about a year ago. Always actively on the work, up to his recent illness, he left nothing undone which would prove of benefit to the thoroughfares of this city. His absence in this community will be sadly felt, not only by wife, children and relatives, but by the many friends whom he has left behind, and these latter join the Clarion in extending heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved wife nd (sic) children in their hour of sorrow.
