Duson died Sunday, July 17, 1892, at San Antonio, Tex., where she had been sojourning for some months in search of health. It is with deep and profound regret that we are called upon to chronicle the sad demise of this estimable lady. Mrs. Duson, whose maiden name was Isora Andrus, was the wife of our late Senator C. C. Duson, and was widely known and universally esteemed by all who had the good fortune to come in contact with her. To know her was to love her. Tender, devoted and true, of her be said, her life was one of unceasing usefulness. To the voice of grief she ever lent a willing ear; she gave encouragement to the fortorn and depressed, and faced courageously to the end the dread malady that had been for some time insidiously encroaching upon her useful life, until death, the unwearied worker, blew his icy breath upon her. Her memory will ever be fresh in the hearts of her many friends. An indulgent mother, a devoted wife, a kind friend and a true Christian, she was the admiration of all. To the bereaved husband and unhappy and motherless children we extend our sincerest sympathy in their severe affliction. Theirs is no common bereavement: and though it is said that Time softens grief, yet the weight of woe is none the less felt when grim Death enters a happy household and robs it of one of its most beloved inmates. Would that we could pour into their bleeding bosoms the balm of consolation; but God alone can comfort the afflicted. After a well spent life, wherein truth, love of duty, honor and fidelity shone forth in all their splendor her journey ended, and she closed her eyes in death. "Calmly as to a night's repose, Like flowers at set of sun" The remains were brought to Opelousas on Monday evening and interred in the Protestant Cemetery surrounded by a very large concourse of relatives and friends.
