Mrs. Birdie Gilkey, nee Harmanson, wife of Mr. Ralph W. Gilkey, of Handsboro, Miss., died at the Sanitarium of Gulport, Miss., on January 28th, and was burried at Handboro, Miss. She was well known and beloved in St. Landry parish, where she taught school for many years. She was eldest child of Dr. A. D. Harmanson and Bridget D. Lyons, and is survived by her father and mother of Handsboro, Miss., Mrs. Pearl Atkinson, of Gulfport, Miss., Mrs. Lily Marsh, of Handsboro, Miss., and Mrs. Ivy Reynolds, of Houston, Texas, sisters, and John Harmanson, a brother, of Opelousas, La. She leaves a husband and five children.
