January 1, 1898, page 3 HUDSPETH.- At the residence of Mr. A. Coshman, Rosa, La., on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1897, at 8 p. m., Fannie I. Hudspeth, aged 16 years and 9 months; daughter of John Hudspeth, deceased, and Frances Moss. Another beautiful young life called away from the loved ones here, to join those who have gone before, and have been watching with beckoning hands to guide her to the other shore. Little did the family think the Angel of Death was hovering so near them, waiting to take away dear little Fannie, for her illness was of such short duration - taken sick on Sunday with rheumatism which gave no alarm and on Wednesday evening her gentle spirit, in peace and pliet, otook its flight to the God who gave it, leaving not a trace of sorrow or suffering on the fair young face, but there dwelt a placid smile, as if in sweet repose. We could exclaim in our moments of grief: Too young, too beautiful to die, with all of life before her! but we never know the meaning of God's works; it is past our finding out and we who are left must bow in humble submission. My heartfelt sympathy is with the bereaved family, mother and sisters. I know how your hearts must ache in the loss of your dear Fannie, but be comforted, mother that you were granted the sweet privilege of being with her, in her last days and moments, and with loving hands making her ready for her last long sleep. She was laid to rest on Saturday in the family burying ground by the side of her father and brother. Sleep well, dear one, 'till the last day, when we shall all be called together again. One who knew her. C. L. R. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/stlandry/obits/h/hudspeth5305gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
