Labyche. The ranks of Opelousas' musical world loss much in the death of these three. For many years they were the recognized leaders in the art of arts here. The sweet voices and charming music for which Opelousas is noted, is the result in a great measure to the efforts of these three - these three who have now joined the great chorus up above. Their deaths occurred in amazingly quick succession. First the old Nestor of music here, Prof. Mayer, then Miss Latour, and now Miss Labyche. Miss Alice M. Labyche died at the residence of Mr. H. E. Estorge, her relative, on Sunday evening, June 5th, 1910, at 6:45 o'clock p. m., aged 52 years, and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery, in Opelousas, on Monday evening, the 6th, at 4:30. Miss Labyche was held in high esteem in the community, a fact which was shown by the large concourse of friends attending her funeral. A devout member of the Catholic church, a kind, charitable woman, sweet is disposition and pleasing in manner, she numbered the entire community as her friends. Miss Labyche had been for many years leader of the choir at the Catholic church, and her death is a great loss to the congregation. The Clarion extends condolences to the bereaved family.
