Hardman Lewis, aged fifty-six years, died at the Charity Hospital, in New Orleans, on Friday, October 14, 1904, at 5 o'clock in the evening. Mr. Lewis had been connected with the Clarion office for the past two years, and left for New Orleans for treatment for Bright's Disease about six weeks ago. But the dreadful malady had evidently taken too strong a hold on his otherwise robust constitution, and notwithstanding the best medical care, the end came. With his death ends an eventful career, a career of storm and sunshine intermingled about evenly. A bright mind is dumbed (sic), and a great big heart stilled. A conscience ever faithful to a trust, honest to a degree almost exceptional in this age of degelt (sic) and avarice, has left this earth. Never more applicable is the trueism (sic), -- "Life's fitful fever is o'ver." May God be with you, Hardeman.
