Through a telepone message received by G. H. Cretin, proprietor of the "Lacombe 
Hotel," on Friday morning, our community was saddened by the news that "Uncle 
Ben" Lewis, one of the most popular drug drummers of the state, who found dead in 
a hotel room at Iota. We learn that upon his not appearing among the other guests 
at the usual hour, a visit was made to his room, and on receiving no answer to 
numerous calls made, the door was forced open to find that he had died in bed 
some time during the night.
