Died at his home at Chataignier at 4:45 Wednesday morning December 11, Mr. Sifroi Manuel, age 79 years years, 3 months and 20 days. The deceased had been ill for sometime and was gradually recovering when suddenly about a week before his death he developed a severe case of la- grippe which caused his death, being too weak from his advanced age to withstand the terrible malady. He was one of the most respected citizen of the community, being loved by young and old, and always had a pleasant word to say to every one he met. While being a retired farmer he had acquired a handsome estate, and when one was in need he knew where to go for help which he was ever ready to render. He leaves eight children and and (sic) a number of grand-children and great- grand-children, also many friends and relatives to mourn his loss. Among his children are some of the most prosperous farmers and merchants of that comunity (sic). The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father VenHaeven, after which the remains were laid to rest in the family tomb at Chataignier. May peace be forever with him, is the wish of a friend.
