DIED - On Jan. 24, 1889, at Avery's Island, BALTHAZAR MARTEL, aged 15 years, 
6 months, and 9 days. Deceased was the son of the late Balthazar Martel and 
Virginia D'Avy.

Balthazar, thy gentle voice now is hushed,
Thy warm true heart is still,
And only thy young and innocent brow,
Is resting death's cold chill.
Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast,
I have kissed thy lovely brow,
And in my aching heart I know
I have lost my nephew now.

Sleep on in thy beauty,
Thou sweet angel child,
The sorrow unblighted,
By sin undefiled.
Like the dove to the ark,
Thou hast flown to thy rest,
From the wild sea of strife,
To the home of the blest.
