The funeral was held Monday morning at the Catholic church the remains being followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Mr. Mistric was in bad health about a year ago and found it necessary at the time to go to New Orleans and undergo a difficult surgical operation. His hardy constitution, rugged health and other physical qualities enabled him to withstand the shock and after a long period of convalescence he was able to resume his active work. His recent illness was sudden, and before many people in this city realized it he had passed away. A native of the Leonville neighborhood in the third ward, he grew to manhood in the section of his birth and only moved to Opelousas several years ago in order to find a larger field for his business activities. Starting out in business in early life, with the aid of a small legacy let him by an old friend, he managed in the course of comparatively a few years to accumulate a substantial fortune. Lacking, perhaps, the fundamentals of a finished education, he made up in native ability, foresight and wisdom what he failed to receive in institutions of learning - his had been the hard but infallible teacher, the "University of Hard Knocks." He profited wisely by all his lessons and always put those lessons to good use in the dawning future. It is said of him, by those who had business deals with him, that it was a real pleasure to transact any business with him and that he was the easiest man alive to close a deal or settle a transaction satisfactorily to all hands. That his splendid treatment of people bore fruit is well attested by the magnificent estate he left to wife and children. Mr. Mistric's father, Jules Mistric, was a native of France but migrated to America many years ago and settled in Louisiana where he married and raised a family. The deceased married a Miss Robin, daughter of the late Captain Napoleon Robin, once a resident of Opelousas and a veteran of the civil war. The wife survives, also nine children and ten grandchildren. the surviving children are: Mrs. G. L. Lassalle of Opelousas; Mrs. J. Morgan Sandoz, of New Orleans; Mrs. Leo J. Lassalle of Baton Rouge; Mrs. Irl L. White of Opelousas; Mrs. Paul J. Cuenot of Elizabeth, New Jersey; Miss Mabel Mistric of Opelousas; Mr. Oscar J. Mistric, Mr. Gilbert J. Mistric and Mr. Walter J. Mistric.
