Creamer marykcreamer@yahoo.com June 28, 2015, 9:32 pm St. Landry Clarion (Opelousas, La.) 1890-1921, December 27, 1919, Image 5 Aurelius Moreau Dies Suddenly on Saturday Aurelius Moreau, well known citizen of this parish, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at 3:15 at his home at Swords Station. He was 48 years and 11 months of age. The funeral was held the following afternoon at 4 o'clock with services and interment in the Catholic cemetery at Swords. Officers and members of Willow Camp No. 47, W. O. W. of which Mr. Moreau was an esteemed member, attended the funeral. Mr. Moreau was well known in Opelousas, as he and his family had resided here for a number of years, during which time he was employed as a clerk by F. L. Sandoz. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Elia Moreau, and one son, Willie, besides a number of other relatives. His unexpected death was a shock to his many friends here, who deeply sympathize with the members of his family in their sudden grief. 2nd. Obituary: source: The Star-Progress. (Opelousas, La.) 1917-1921, December 27, 1919, Image 1 AURELIS MOREAU DIES SUDDENLY Former Opelousean Expired at His Residence in Swords Station Last Saturday Aurelis Moreau, for many years a well known citizen of Opelousas, a native of the sixth ward, died very suddenly at his home in the Swords Station section of St. Landry last Saturday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock. Mr. Moreau had not been in very good health for some time, but it had never been thought that he would pass off as rapidly as he did. The deceased was well known here, having resided in this city for nearly fifteen years. He had but recently moved to Swords Station, where he expected to farm the coming year. He is survived by his wife, two children, Miss Elia and Willie, and a number of relatives and a host of warm personal friends. Funeral services were conducted at his residence in Swords Station at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and interment took place in the Catholic cemetery at that place. A delegation of Woodmen of the World, of which Mr. Moreau was an esteemed member, attended the funeral and paid homage to their deceased brother.
