(Opelousas, LA) Friday, January 27, 1928 AGED CITIZEN PASSES AWAY - Ozeme Moreau, one of the oldest residents of St. Landry parish and a survivor of many of the hardest fought battles of the Civil War, died last Saturday at the family residence in Prairie Bosse. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Catholic church in Opelousas and interment made in the Catholic cemetery. At the time of his death Mr. Moreau was a little more than ninety-five years of age. He had celebrated his birthday anniversary just before the new year dawned. Mr. Moreau was the last of five well known and elderly citizens of the parish who years ago sat for a group picture, a copy of which now hangs in the Planters Bank and Trust Company of Opelousas. The five were Antione Christman, Judge E. T. Lewis, Judge E. D. Estillette, Theogene Chacjere and Mr. Moreau. At the time the picture was made all had passed the 82nd milestone in life and all passed on before Mr. Moreau answered the last call.
