Mrs. Mornhinveg enjoyed the esteem of a large circle of friends, her sympathetic nature and kind ministrations in the time of need endearing her to all who had the good fortune to know her. She was an ideal housewife, a devoted helpmeet (sic) and an affectionate and indulgent mother. To husband and children her loss is indeed a calamity. About three weeks before she took sick, her sister's family, as well as those of her nephews, were all prostrated with the prevailing influenza, and she was unremitting in her attentions to them until they were all well again. She had expressed the desire that she might not take sick until they had all recovered, in order that they might not be deprived of her care. In this respect her wish was gratified - she saw them all nursed back to health, and was then herself striken (sic), and after an illness of only five days, entered into the last long sleep that knows no awakening. Despite the inclement weather, the funeral was largely attended, evidencing the esteem in which she was held by her friends and neighbors. She was a member of Opelousas Household No. 109, Columbian Woodmen, being one of the first ladies to join the order, the members of which attended the funeral in a body. Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters to mourn her death: Mrs. E. D. Veillon, Mrs. E. M. Bordelon and Miss Lillian, to whom the Clarion extends its sincere condolence. Card of Thanks. We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who assisted us during the recent illness and death of our wife and mother, and we wish to extend our special thanks to Dr. B. A. Littell and the trained nurse, Miss Bertha Barthe, who attended her during her last illness and who did all in human power to keep her with us. We can never forget the many kindnesses extended during this trying time, and the remembrance of those who aided us will ever be fresh in our memory. EDWARD MORNHINVEG, AND DAUGHTERS.
