Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, and longtime friend and recreational baseball rival, will officiate at the services. Concelebrants of the Mass will be Rev. J. Aaron Melancon, associate pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church and Rev. Ken Buddendorff, SJ, of Our Lady of the Oaks Retreat House. Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau and Kevin Carriere, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, On Eagle's Wings, and Notre Pere. Mr. Morris was a native of Port Barre and a resident of Opelousas for most of his life. He was a manager of purchasing and shipping for Lou Ana Foods (now Ventura) for 45 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Mr. Morris was a member and former president of Lucky Buck Hunting Club for many years. He was inducted into the Louisiana Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2003. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, the former Florence Carriere of Opelousas; two sons, Michael Morris and his wife, the former Stephanie Dupuis, of Opelousas, Troy Morris and his wife, the former Kimberly Blackstone, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Yvonne M. Pritchard and her husband Daniel of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, Alicia Bennett, Daniel Pritchard, Michael Patrick Pritchard, Doug Wesmoreland and wife Erica, Wesley Kretschmer, Dallas Morris, Zachary Morris, Brooke Morris, Beau Morris; six great grandchildren, Ashlyn Dyer, Mason Bennett, Daisy Bennett, Tobin Pritchard, Riley Wesmoreland and Emery Wesmoreland; and one sister, Verna Morris Savoie of Opelousas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Morris and the former Laurance Lalonde, both natives of St. Landry Parish. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM Thursday and will continue from 8:00 AM until service time on Friday. Pallbearers will be Leroy Carriere, Jr., Doug Wesmoreland, Wesley Kretschmer, Dallas Morris, Jason Borne and Michael Pritchard.
