DIED - In Opelousas, on Thursday, Sept. 29, 1904, Charles Pefferkorn, aged 
51 years, 6 months and 25 days.

"Charley" was born and reared in Opelousas, followed the painting and baking 
business for a living, both of which trades were injurious to his health, 
resulting in his having several attacks of hemorrhage of the lungs, 
culminating in his death in the prime of life.

"Charley" always strived to do right;
To win in life's battle made a brave fight;
This he undertook with all his might,
And made the shady side look bright.

He was ever ready the poor to serve;
Never from duty's path did swerve;
But his light went out upon this earth,
To shine again in celestial birth.

Since from earth he has departed,
His relatives are broken-hearted;
But Father Time will make amends
When he to us his messenger sends.

Mr. Emile Pefferkorn desires to express his heartfelt thanks to the kind and 
sympathetic friends who generously assisted him in the care of his brother 
Charles during his illness and death. This is the third time death has 
visited the relatives of Mr. Emile Pefferkorn within a year, the first to 
fall before the grim reaper being Mrs. Stewart, a sister-in-law, and last, 
Charles Pefferkorn, a brother, to all of whom Emile noble responded in their 
hour of affliction.

NOTE: Charles Frederick Pefferkorn is buried in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery 
located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA.
