On Wednesday, Dec 5, 1888. Arthur J. Perrault died at his residence in 
Opelousas, aged 26 years, 4 months and 18 days. Deceased had long been a 
sufferer from that dread disease, consumption, and when the inevitable summons 
came, neither he nor his family and friends were unprepared for it. Bravely 
and uncomplainingly did he with-stand the insidious assaults of his arch 
enemy; with wonderful energy and courage did he fight life's rough battle to 
the end. Then, turning his face to the rising sun, he meekly made his final 
peace with his Creator; and, his bright, strong intellect yet undimmed by the 
shadows of death, he bid a long farewell to earth, and drawing the drapery of 
his conch about him gave himself up to pleasant dreams. X
