Alfred Perry, a very well thought of old Confederate veteran, died on Friday night, after a short illness, at the age of 73 years. Mr. Perry has been a prominent citizen of this city ever since the close of the Civil war, and was prominently connected here, being a brother-in-law of the late J. B. Sandoz. Mr. Perry, who was a private during the war, served with distinguished honor in Captain Robin's company, Sons of St. Landry, Company K 28th Louisiana Infantry and fought in some of the bitterest fights during the four years of turmoil, being at Vicksburg, when the Confederates lost that post and saw their hopes vanish forever. The funeral of Mr. Perry took place from his residence on Main Street to the Catholic Church, interment being made in the Catholic Cemetery. Additional Comments: NOTE: Alfred Perry is buried in section 7 of the Saint Landry Catholic Church cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. www.findagrave.com memorial # 103371714 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/stlandry/obits/p/perry5745gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
