January 10, 1891, page 1 We are pained to announce the death of Hon. Willis Prescott, State Senator from this district, which occurred at the Hotel Dieu, New Orleans, last Wednesday, at age 51 years. He had been in bad health for a long time, and had recently visited Sour Lake, Texas, in search of relief; returning, he went to New Orleans for treatment, a few weeks before his death. He was buried yesterday at his old home and among his relatives and friends in Washington, La. Several years ago he represented this parish in the State legislature, and was elected to the Senate, from this district, on the Democratic ticket in 1888. He was a widower, and left several children; his wife a daughter of the late Col. William Offutt, died several years ago. Senator Prescott was greatly liked by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was gentlemanly, sociable and entertaining; and no one could spend an hour with him without having pleasant recollections of him. His family and relatives have our warmest sympathies in their sore bereavement. Additional Comments: Willis Prescott was the son of William Prescott and Eveline Simphorose Moore. Willis Prescott married Eleonora Offute d/o William Offut and Eliza Posey on 15 Feb. 1874 (Wash. Ch.; v. 1, pg. 26). Willis Prescott and his wife and his parents are buried in the Magnolia Ridge Cemetery in Washington, St. Landry Parish, LA.
