OBITUARY.

MARINDA READ, daughter of A. T. Read, aged 16 years and 8 months died in 
Washington La. March 2nd 1860. She was a child of religious instruction and 
early taught to fear and honor her God.

She was a member of the S. School and loved its exercises.

But the destroyer came, and youth and beauty had to yeald to his conquering 
power. Consumption marked her for his victim and though she suffered long, yet 
she suffered patiently. She calmly waited the approach of death, and resigned 
herself peacefully to his charge.

Thus passed away an opening flower of youth, but the fragrance of her memory 
will long remain on earth.
