St. Landry Clarion (Opelousas, LA) March 23, 1912, pg. 1
Died, in Lafayette, La., on Saturday night, Alphonse Reed, aged 68 years. 
Funeral services at the Catholic Church in Opelousas Sunday.

Mr. Reed was a prominent citizen of this section, a member of one of the 
pioneer families. He was born a few miles from Opelousas, and resided in this 
city and the surrounding country all of his life, until a few months ago, when 
he moved to Lafayette, there making his home with his daughter and son-in-law, 
Mr. and Mrs. Hart H. Sandoz.

He was for several years a member of the Democratic Executive Committee, of 
Opelousas, and at various times took keen interest in political affairs.

In his death a good citizen goes to his last reward.
