MRS. L. A. SANDOZ REAPS FINAL REWARD.

Mrs. Alice Lelia Gil Sandoz, wife of Mr. L. A. Sandoz, was found dead in her 
bed Thursday morning at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Sandoz had long been a sufferer, and 
while her demise was not wholly unexpected the quiet ending of a long and 
useful life was none the less a distinct shock.

The funeral services were held from the house yesterday afternoon, with 
concluding ceremonies at the Catholic church. The Rev. Father Engberink 
officiated.

The deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. L. A. Sandoz, and eight 
children: Misses Leilia and Gertie Sandoz, Mrs. Geo. Wright, of Iota, La., 
and William J., Gordon, Stewart, Ellis and Hilton Sandoz.

Mrs. Sandoz was born in Baton Rouge April 4, 1851, and on June 28, 1869, was 
married to L. A. Sandoz, and since that time has been a resident of 
Opelousas. She was of the Boutte family, and also related to the Lavergne's 
and Chachere's. Mrs. Sandoz's father was at one time mayor of Baton Rouge, 
and her Spanish forebears took a prominent part in the early settlement of 
Mexico.

The Clarion extends fullest sympathy to the bereaved husband, sons and 
daughters. Mrs. Sandoz was beloved by all who knew her. She was a woman of 
charming personality, and in the years that she lived did much to enshrine 
herself in the hearts of all those with whom she came in contact.

NOTE: Alice Lelia Gil Sandoz is buried in section 3 of the Saint Landry 
Catholic Church cemetery located in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.
