M., on the 8th inst., John Smith, aged 89 years to a day, having died on his birthday. 2nd OBIT: The Opelousas Journal. (Opelousas, La.) 1868-1878, May 17, 1873, Image 2 JOHN SMITH. - We announced the death of this old citizen last week. He died on the 8th inst., his birth-day, being just eighty-nine years old. We reported in this paper the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of his marriage, on the 30th of June last. Mr. Smith survives him, and will be eighty years old if she lives till the 19th of next September. Mr. Smith was born in Southampton county, Pennsylvania, May 8th, 1784. He came to this parish in October, 1808, and was married to his wife who survives him, by Judge George King, on June 30th, 1812. He was for a long time a member of the Methodist E.
