Mrs. Etienne Stagg, nee Catherine Chachere, died at the family residence 
near Prud'homme City, on Thursday, February 20, 1908, aged 72 years. The 
venerable lady was taken suddenly ill during the night with rheumatism of 
the heart, which refused to yield to medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Stagg 
last November celebrated the golden anniversary of their wedding, on which 
occasion numerous relatives and friends gathered to do them homage. Deceased 
is a sister of Messrs. T. C. and Louis Chachere, and Mrs. Martin Carron, of 
Eunice.

CROWLEY POST SIGNAL, FEBRUARY 22, 1908:
Death of Mrs. Stagg.
Eunice, La., Feb. 22. - Mrs. Catherine Stagg, wife of Etienne Stagg, died at 
3 o'clock Friday morning.

Thursday night she was as well as usual but in the night was struck with 
rheumatism or neurnlgia (sic) in the region of the heart. Dr. Chachere, of 
Prud'homme was sent for at once, but before he came she passed away. Her 
sufferings were intense from the time of her awakening about one o'clock 
until enar (sic) 3 o'clock when the end came.

She was about 698 years of age and she and her husband celebrated their 
golden wedding a few months ago. The funeral will take place at the 
Pilgrim's Rest Baptist church of which she had been a consistent member for 
many years, at 2 o'clock p. m. today and she will be buried at the cemetery 
near the church.

Catherine Chachere Stagg is buried in the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church cemetery 
located in Richard, Acadia Parish, Louisiana.
